Lonnie goes into great detail on how you can make your own hot tent using two 12 foot by 16 foot poly tarps. This tent style has been known as a Range tent, pyramid tent, miners or prospectors tent. The cost for making this tent is just a tiny fraction of a commercially made pyramid tent. You will also learn how to install a stove jack to turn this tent into a warm and comfortable long term shelter. This tent is now over a year old and has gone on several trips into the backcountry wilderness of Alaska including several epic river trips that have logged well over 300 river miles over several weeks. It has been hauled into the Alaskan winter wilderness by snowmachine and camped in at temperatures as low as 5 degrees above zero Fahrenheit so far. I am very pleased with this tent.

Hello my name is Lonnie and My wife is Connie.
Here at Far North Bushcraft And Survival you will learn about many long forgotten tricks and tips of the old time woodsmen. Not only will you learn about bushcraft / woodcraft but you will learn many things that will help you to survive in less than ideal "survival" situations as well. Come along and sit with me by the campfire as I delve into these subjects in a way that you can easily learn to then do yourself.
I will show you how to make shelters, gather food, use wild medicines as well as start fires with or without matches, lighters, ferro rods, etc

A great idea! The bipod outside! It will keep stress out of the peak - if using a pole inside ( i destroy my peak by using a pole inside) - and also - you haven't the stovepipe near to a centerpole ! Also the grommet above the doorflap - great idea! I will combine this new ideas to the tipi that i've made on your construction planes! This is very useful! Thank you for sharing!!

Love the teepee tent. I wanted to suggest using a different colour tarp or your teepee. Use the tarp that is silver colour on one side and black on the other. In winter the silver on the inside would reflect heat and the black on the outside would absorb the rays of the sun. In the summer flip it the other way around and the silver side will reflect the sun’s rays away. Thanks. Yours truly John from Canada.

Lonnie, I am fairly new to your channel. The first video I watched was when you made a bush craft bench. The only metal tool you used was a knife. The next one was Connie making a meal while you created cutting boards and accessories. She was so eloquent and vocal when explaining her recipe. She seemed camera shy today. I hope that she realizes that we love both of you. I have a lot of catching up to do on your videos. You are truly original and quite a brilliant individual. Oh! Connie, you are truly a skilled bush crafter yourself. Don't be shy girl. I love your smile and am looking forward to seeing much more of both of you. Casey

Having a supermodel waiting inside was a master touch. I love this idea so much for its simplicity. Compared to the price of a wall tent you're still better off with this even if it only just three or four seasons.

Awe Wonderful I am very grateful and thinking about making my own tent. I have purchased one and sealed the Seams but the Fabric leaks so once was all that took and that’s out the Door. I did not see this in time before I purchased a TeePee tent on Amazon that claimed it doesn’t leak. So it will be here soon and it’s 10x10 round. I will see How well it works out. If it Leaks I will make one from your excellent Instructions and great quality Tarps would be far better material I am sure. Thank You so much 😊

I would suggest, Lonnie and Connie, that you watch the Engle's Coach shop video on how to steam-bend wood. Steam up some wood slats for hoops to put on the internal structure to bow out the walls so they don't sag inward. But that's more to truck into the wilderness for the hunt. Good luck with the hunting. .45-70?

Ok thanks again Lonnie! Man I'm going through a lot of tarps!! Heheheh I see how the greater height makes the walls more vertical and the strait sides increase the usable floor space as opposed to the circular cone shaped teepee. Also the four corner anchor points are more easily set up quickly with less fuss. So of course, I gotta try it !! 😏 lol . Have a great autumn! . Peace. Mark W

Maybe the tarp tipi design that I did a video on a while back may fit your needs better. I like the size of this range tent here because I can easily stand up with plenty of headroom. But the tipi design tarp tent that i did a while back is more compact and lighter in weight than this one. It is also easier to heat with a smaller stove in the cold weather though you said you do not need that ability. If you did not see the tipi video and wish to then it is found at the link below.
