just as a tip, when the orange bridge lights appear it just means their reactor has been destroyed. A guaranteed way to tell when the ship has been destroyed is when the greyish blue cloud appears over it.

Orange lights mean the CIC is down. There is no indication of a reactor meltdown or simply it being destroyed

I'm honoured that you're covering my mod Phros! Got very close to needing a second try there. The missions with time limits do count down while the tutorial briefing is ongoing, so by stopping to explain the ships' equipment when they were mentioned, you ended up making it a much more suspenseful battle :D

@@tootzmcgee7144 mostly intentional, because I want the timer to show up on the screen when Vance mentions that there is a time limit, to call the player's attention to it while their mind is on the subject, but I can't make it show and be paused. So it has to tick down. One alternative could be moving the mention of a time limit to after the tutorial dialogue, but that would require a lot of rewriting to make it flow well.

Excellent mission Notso! If I can make a recommendation, in the tutorial, throw in a a line about keeping at range against the vox to better control angles. Also mentioning Battle Short and keeping the bow in plane with the DD to best defend against the hybrids. As a ANS player it was a neat departure. Also, being gimped by relatively weak missile seekers was an interesting challenge. Unsure if it’s a trigger or not, but the warning equivalent of “torpedoes in the water” does not sync with when the DD initially fires its first barrage.

Loving it! That’s such a great idea to make mod that creates a campaign! Don’t forget you can orbit your target with small ships. ORB command.

A gamemode where you have to research new guns and hull types etc (you start out with a corvette or shuttle and frigate etc) and buy new ships or custom ships etc while controlling different maps for bonuses etc.

I haven't played in a long time, and I seem to remember if you restored a DC locker, you got access to any of the restores that were left in the locker. I think it is only slightly redundant. At least to the way I think you spend a restore, and get a retore and an active DC team, so it is still net positive. Also so excited for this Campaign. Love the community is doing this, exactly what this game needs top get a little more accessibility

DC teams themselves don't care if their locker has been destroyed, conversely if the team is killed by incoming damage, you don't get them back

You do! However as mentioned by @artemisfowl7191 we wouldn't get the team back if they had died and we would just replace the restore for no net gain. Though it would add back a compartment to take damage if we got penetrated again, so maybe it would be useful.

I think you smash the CL with Ocelo, support with the escort on the shuttles (the tug is nimble enough to protect himself with the ocello or disengage if need be). The quad 100 has more dps than the shuttle iirc. When both shuttle are out you finish the CL with missiles. After that you go to pound town with the DD Also I love that your commander said "keep your ship close for overlapping PD" ... And you separate them XD Anyway, good video! NFC videos with voice and HQ are rare indeed

This was a lot of fun to watch! Kinda disappointed the missiles didn't actually seem to do too well against the enemy cruiser's PD even after the tutorial said they were good against that kind of PD. Having to blow almost your entire load before they finally ran out of ammo/had to reload so some missiles could get through seemed like it would be extremely frustrating.

Missiles significantly under or over performing is Very Nebulous Fleet Command. I am planning a video on how all the different seeker heads work that should make understanding missile warfare a lot easier for people like me that don't know a lot about how they work.

That was super clutch. I'm curious if there are any combat sounds in this game. It sounds oddly quiet during combat. I would like it better if I could hear the clanging of metal, impact sounds, explosions and projectile acoustics.

There is actually some gorgeous sound design, I will make a point to turn them up for later videos (sadly this whole campaign is already recorded so it is too late for those videos)

Yeah great point, I am pretty sure missile strikes can degrade it as well? I need to confirm.

@Phrosphor another thing beams are kinda wonky as they have stats that aren't listed. Like their extremely punishing damage falloff (to the point of Like 80% damage reduction [don't quote me on that] at maximum range) and the fact that it doesn't do damage every second. It does 1/5 of its dps every 0.2 seconds, meaning an obscure rule comes into effect reinforced modules or particularly tough parts of ships can sometimes at range even if you pentrate armor it does no damage. I don't exactly remember why right now. So increasing your damage increases your effective range.

I’m following this game for years. It’s kinda saddening that a modder had to put a playable campaign in the game.

Hello! I am said modder. I would not characterize it this way at all - the developers are busy working on their solar system conquest mode, which when complete, will blow my little experiment here out of the water. I just wanted to make something small to see if it could be done. It took me 6 months. Do you want them to delay conquest mode by 6 months? I definitely don't, and I'm glad the devs are prioritizing it over everything else.

Conquest is right around the corner dude. Yeah a full blown campaign would be nice but technically the game is still in early access and isn't even finished yet

This game has a bunch of very big updates in it's time in EA and the dev is very good at communicating what is going on. They take the time to post big devlogs when they hit milestones and I think it's a really good example on how to do EA correctly :)

iirc, the condition percentage is a measure of your intel condition and how accurate that will be

Would setting the ship to evasive have helped some or is that negligible when you're bow tanking, especially since it's using less powerful maneuvering thrusters?

I thought about it during the fight and I should have vocalised it. Evasive would likely have resulted in less hits on us, but also less hits on target, especially at long range, and I wanted to bring our superior firepower to bear in this one. If they had more ships, especially from multiple angles I would have gone evasive for sure.

If we get bigger fleets to control this looks really interesting. I dont like the bug dumb asteroids however, maybe if they were better shaded. I wonder how the real campaign is going to be.

Fleet sizes are capped at 10 hulls per player. Most multiplayer skirmish games at the moment are 4v4 with each player usually bringing between 3-6 ships but there are exceptions. Light ship swarms of 8-10 are popular. Most of the maps are from the start of early access, there are some awesome maps made by the community that feature really nice terrain. Having rocks and things in the battlespace are important for breaking LOS and RadarLOS to provide avenues for flanking and retreat, otherwise it would just turn into a railgun/mass driver slugfest and weapons like Beams which have short ranges would never be used. The 'real campaign' is a persistent solar system scale war between two factions. This can be played pvp or coop against the AI. When combat is joined between fleets the players assign ships to anyone online to command them and then fight it out.

ok couple things - you don't shoot 250 AP on a vauxhall, you hit them with HE - you don't care about the antenna on an ocello, it is your primary locking ship and you even got the bullseye, you don't need to communicate with other ships cause the tug you got is non-combat - if you set heading from the tac view you get guide lines that make it easier - who put the CIC there? :D - why are you restoring auroras when the enemy doesn't have missiles? - this engagement should be a relative cake walk, who cares if you lose thrusters on the front? The front of the ocello is basically an ablation layer - vls 2 launchers armed with s2's are not gonna do crap against defender PDC's atm, might as well save them. Or launch them after you knocked the CL's PD, but to be honest you'll be fine with guns - defenders don't reload Bow on, shoot 250HE, this fight is done, would actually focus the CL first. The big benefit of the ocello is that it's front half is basically just a place to put reinforced components in to provide extra ablation against fire. Ocellos can tank insane ammounts of HE and even 250AP from the bow that way. In skirmish which this is based on a gun vaux and 2 gun sprinters against an ocello is a fight the vaux should not take

Sure you can. Most objects in space are moving, yes, but in the small scale movement is relative. So if you're following an asteroid orbiting the sun for example, you can match its velocity. On the small scale it looks like you're not moving, and you can even reverse and distance yourself from it. But on the larger scale both you and the asteroid are following your own orbital paths, just at similar speeds.

There is not, surprisingly, there is an orbit but headings are to reference point not ship. If you have a spinal weapon and order an attack though the ship will always orient to keep the fixed weapon pointing at the target.

There are maybe modded translations but if there aren’t any just try and play in whatever language you know best that’s available and if all else fails try and learn what everything means over time
