cool.... thats a big boy Honestly, with the heater thingy, I would simple do like elegoo with their filters. one port for filter, another for heater. however a heated vat would be optimal... but hey...

Uniformation are the only ones I'm aware of that think in terms of re-using naturally generated heat. As you say, in theory it's possible... it's a shame companies aren't doing it.
@ClayMann8 ай бұрын
I really no longer care how good a printer is, if it doesn't have a heater, I'm not interested. While I have made my own solution thanks to Vogmans ideas on a small temperature controlled heater (That's a great video btw!) I have a 50watt heater that sits inside a 3D printing tent about twice the size of the printer and can keep all my resin bottles in there too and it keeps it all 25c printing in a shed in the UK when its literally freezing outside. So I solved the problem but its ugly, bulky in my tiny shed and given how little printer manufacturers need to put into heating the VAT, its insane to me that isn't a feature on all mid priced machines this year.
@vogman8 ай бұрын
I don't get it. These companies produce resins that clearly state a recommended temperature which, for a lot of the world, happens rarely if ever. So why haven't they made more use of the printers own heat? Why haven't they manufactured after market heaters? It's strange. Frankly I have zero use for a resin pump. But a heater, I can't do without!

The wash station feels like it really needs a bit more innovation. You could make the tap so at the very least it flips up out the way. But im also thinking that they are missing a trick in that the position of the tap will drain all the IPA but not the sediment that will settle at the bottom which will be left behind..
@vogman8 ай бұрын
Yes, that tap sticks out too far and on a workbench could easily be knocked. I also think there's plenty of room to alter the positioning. It's a big machine... that alone should make it EASIER to move things around.
@Gormadt8 ай бұрын
I think a beveled bottom that funnels everything to a spout that could attach to the front and detach when not needed would have been better. Of course the impellers would need to be placed differently if they beveled the bottom. So having them sticking up from the bottom (to be flat above the bevel), on the beveled side walls, or having them near the bottom but on the sides would have been a good call as well. The wash station seems like more of a quick design to shove out with the larger printer and cure station compared to the others that look like they have a lot of design work that's gone into them. And of course for all of them, putting the dang power switch on the front. Yeah they'll need to have a separate spot for the cable to plug in but it's not difficult to route wires for a power switch, especially for a large company that's already designing a printer.

It is a pity they still are not making heated cure chambers. There are a million curing systems, but there is no selling point to any of them anymore. So many non-standard resins anymore have specific curing temps, but unless you want to pay thousands, we are still stuck with diy.

@vogman8 ай бұрын
No, it's not cheap. It's a lot cheaper, but still not cheap. But honestly, the sheer size of this printer is NOT for those without a serious purpose in mind. If you print VERY large prints all the time, this is for you. If you print several hundred minis per week, this is for you. If not, then don't bother. There's better options for the casual user 😁😁😁

@GregAtlas8 ай бұрын
"They all seem to drag their feet on this issue" It's likely because heaters can be a fire hazard. A hazard they probably don't want to risk liability over if they can't provide a quality and durable product. Possibly due to licensing as well. What's even dumber than not producing a heater is how their resin pump is tied to their software in the Mega 8KS instead of stand alone so you can't use it on the old system or other printers.
@vogman8 ай бұрын
I agree with you Greg. No doubt there's lots of red tape and safety regs to navigate, and that's daunting and expensive. Yet these same companies produce FDM printers that melt plastic at over 200C. In comparison, heating a chamber to 30C should be child's play 😁😁😁
@GregAtlas8 ай бұрын

I feel it's a bit crap to have what is effectively a semi-pro machine at that price not have Wi-Fi/LAN as standard. I get the impression with all these Chinese manufacturers that they are all following each other's tails and nobody is capable of any original thought. As I can get an Arduino dual Wi-Fi/Bluetooth controller board for under a tenner, there is simply no excuse.

@vogman8 ай бұрын
Different machines for different uses. The Mighty has a resolution of 28µm vs 43µm on the Mega. That is a quality difference that is easily discernible to the eye. That's why I felt Phrozen made a mistake in not including a 12K screen. It still wouldn't have bettered the Mighty, but it would have narrowed the gap 😁
