The first 3 days of a 10 day trip to Southern California. Includes Tehachapi Pass or the UP Mojave Sub, Caliente canyon, some unseen angles at Cliff, and high above the Yuma Sub in San Timoteo Canyon. Enjoy :)

Wonderful night shots. So happy to see videos of trains in their larger environment and not just 3/4 views of passing trains.

The overhead aerial type shots really show how much curvature really is in the Tehachapi mountain railroads. They are great shots too. Nice catches and thanks for sharing your work.

You are a genius when it comes to placement for these shots! I grew up chasing trains with my father and these videos bring back some incredible memories of driving over old US 40 and down the Feather River Canyon in a 1972 Bronco with no top on. I never got to experience Southern California trains. Thank you for doing this!

I always appreciate shots of Allard, Cliff, Rowen and The Narrows as it's a bit of a hike to get there. Great aerial shots. Gives a good feel of the overall Tehachapi experience.

Great long distance camera work. Gives people an idea what the railroad was up against in trying to conquer the mountains.

When i was in the Caliente and Bealville are in late 2020, it was so smokey/smoggy some days, you couldn't see but a couple miles. I definitely need to get there in the spring like you did.

WOW. Nice video! Colors and scenery! Well done! I haven't been in southern California in the spring for several years.. i miss the smells of spring, like magnolias, citrus blooms, and oil refineries.. Don't laugh, the combination is a memory that I miss.

Loved the video. Truly some very rare angles from Cliff, Marcel. Looked like the railroads still have some problems with 'straight-lining' as evidenced by the center-beam flats going off the rails (at about 78min). However how did the tri-levels wind up on the outside of the curve at about 45min mark?

Did you have to do some hiking in the Allard Ca portion of the video? I found on google maps about where you would've been and there were no roads around for quite a ways. Awesome video and love your work!

Those engineers must be shitting their pants seeing those derail cars near Cliff

An interesting tidbit: from 1:41:42 to 1:44:25 in the video, you can see the remains of the temporary routing of the rail tracks that was built after the 1952 Kern County earthquake when the tunnel at Cliff collapsed. It several months to rebuild the tunnel before the temporary track was removed.
