A little trip back in time to the good old Diablo 2 days in the early 2000's :)
Watching this cinematic always sends chills down my spine, especially with the musical score and sound effects.
Act 5 - "Destruction's End"
Ending cinematic from the game "Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction" (the expansion set for "Diablo 2").
- "Though the hero manages to destroy Baal, Tyrael informs the hero that Baal already corrupted the Worldstone completely. The removal of those ethereal wings in Resurrected is an absolute crime. Edit: I get that they removed them to be more in line with the current depiction of the character but he didn't have these wings all the time. Only here when he is destroying the Worldstone. He's obviously in some sort of powered up state and that's what makes the feather pattern of the wings come out. That makes it being removed feel like even more of a loss.

100 percent agree. Not only did those Ethereal wings look cool as shit but i always loved the general "unfocused/hazyness" look to Tyrael in OG diablo 2. It was that ethereal energy on his wings and ephemeral miraged aura on Tyraels body that really accentuated the point that he was not a being of the mortal world.

The D2R cinematics are obviously higher quality and better graphically, but I miss the way the originals are animated. Tyrael's wings and Marius' schizophrenic movements are little details that seemed to be looked over in the new cutscenes. But hey, at least the World Stone isn't made of wood anymore.

Diablo 2 was happy to be an unsettling, disturbing and gorey game with cinematics to match it. Diablo 3 tried to be some kind of mainstream "everyone must buy!" game and movie cinematic and failed to do so completely with a contrived story without a hint of originality or brilliance. When game developers have passion for how THEY see their games, instead of wondering how we'll all see it, real games will be made. Look no further than the real money action house to see who was steering the ship off course.

How do you trigger this cutscene? After I killed Baal and talked to Tyriel, he opened the Destruction's End portal, I went into it, and nothing happened. It just showed me a screen that said my character will now be known as "slayer" and when I hit the button on that screen it took me back to the main menu where it prompted me to pick Normal or Nightmare. I picked Normal, got back into the game, talked to the people around the barbarian settlement, and they talked about how I saved the world and the worldstone will be destroyed. I went back to the Rogue Encampment to play the cow level, then when I was done I looked up if there's really no ending to Lord of Destruction and found this. So I tried going back to Baal's throne room but he and all his minions are alive again. What gives?

Diablo 2 sets the stage for an expansion that is similar to the Sin War but with humanity as the Nephilim being influenced by heaven and hell to join their side. This would allow the hero to do missions that ally themselves more so with heaven or hell affecting the outcome of the game.

Vojtěch Martinec Nonsense. Diablo always had very interesting, competently written lore (it might not have been that apparent if you just hacked and slashed mindlessly through the entire game, but for those who bothered to read the manual that came with Diablo 1, there was much to discover) which combined with the masterfully crafted atmosphere made the universe fascinating. Then Diablo 3 came along and suddenly, everything wnet full bonkers - from the graphical style to the tone, writing and story.

Diablo calls other two devils his brothers and all of a sudden he became female in D3. They may argue that devils have no gender, but most obviously Andariel was a female and Diablo was a male. You're overthinking it. Diablo's appearance changed three times in as many games and the excuse the devs gave each time was that he reflected the forms and fears of the bodies he inhabited. It was always as much about him as it was about the people he infested the nightmares of. As far as Tyrael being black, they more or less went with reflecting his voice casting for appearance. Jonathan Adams got the role because Ed Trotta (The voice actor in D2) was working on other things at the time. This isn't a case of things being 'Political'. It's just creatives being creatives and experimenting with things.
