but what if we take the upper layer as p-type...& holes in p-type layers are getting filled by electrons of lower layer(n-type), through the fingers of upper Anti-reflection layer... i mean can it still conduct elctricity...if we interchange the n-type & p-type layers???
@sidddj7 жыл бұрын
If you take thin upper layer as P-type which has negligible electrons comparatively due to high doping, then photons(if they have high energy and intensity) will be able to ionise that particular electrons only due to which the conduction of those electrons will be negligible. Electrons from N-type(which is below P-type) will not be able to fill the holes of P-type since there is no applied external Voltage. So it will conduct electricity only due to the remaining electrons of the upper P-type. Also, photons will require more energy to penetrate deeper in upper P-type as they are very less electrons and high intensity of photons need to be required for this purpose. This is according to me, not sure that it is true.

@7:46 I have a doubt. You didn't explain this part clearly. What happens if an electron becomes free near the p-type region? Will it be directly captured by holes due to the low resistance? You mentioned that this reasoning is incorrect, but isn't p-type also a type of semiconductor (metal)? I believe the electron flow is toward the n-type semiconductor because of the depletion layer's charge-positive on the n-type side and negative on the p-type side. That's why electrons move toward the n-type region, as it's positively charged.

What is the band gap of Si. ???? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Is it 0.6ev or 1.6 ev ?? In the video of LED at 15:49 sir told that the band gap of Si is 0.6ev and here at 18:50 he said that it is 1.6ev. I am very confused 🤔🤔🤔 Google says it is 1.17ev at 0 Kelvin and 1.11ev at 300 K.😖😖

Thank you. an addition from my side. at 8:20 the electrons drift toward finger coz of electric field present in direction from n side to p side due yo depletion region and similarly the generated holes prefer to move along the direction of field so they move toward copper back side and we get energy at load.

16:25 - 16:55 Pradeep sir, In dual nature you taught that a 2eV photon ionises the atom in which an electron requires 2eV. A 3eV photon can't displace a 2eV electron. But here you are telling a 2Ev photon can ionize a 1.6eV electron. Am i wrong somewhere?
