We were together for almost a quarter of century. We were blessed with five wonderful children. She passed away last April 25 due to cancer, or less than a month ago. I know it’s a song about a relationship but some of the lyrics hit home when you lose somebody in general. Deeply sorry for your loss. My condolences. 🙏🙏🙏 I remember in an interview Phyllis Hyman even said the record reminds her of old lovers and even her family members at the time that were still alive. The content of the song lyrics seem like it could apply to a romantic partner or nostalgic memories of loved ones from our past. It was genius writing. I had visited NYC for the first time for my birthday. PH passed away that weekend. Everyone I was around was so stunned. Soon, the Apollo paid tribute to her on its marquee. I wish that I could find the picture that I took of it. What is so sad about this song is that it was the last song the Great Linda Creed wrote before she passed away from cancer. So whenever I listen to this song, it's like a double whammy of emotions.
