When I was like 10. My mom took me to GameStop and I got a Spongebob game for ps2, was so excited but when I got home I opened the case and the first Devil May Cry was inside. I was overflowing with joy then cuz it was rated m and I wasn’t allowed to play those back then. I thought that game was so awesome and had hella fun playing it. I still wonder till this day if the associate did it on purpose or by mistake.

In 2006, I sold GameStop an Xbox that would take a shit 5 seconds into reading a disc but for an inexplicable reason, played Splinter Cell flawlessly. So my plan was simple: I left the Splinter Cell disc in the drive when I brought it in and, ya know what; they figured that using Splinter Cell disc to test the Xbox would suffice, and presto! "We'll give you a hundred bucks for the Xbox, 50 for all the games" I got a brand new white Nintendo DS in the store. I made GameStop give me a new DS for a busted Xbox. Don't hate the player.

I feel fortunate that I never had to deal with roaches, but I heard the horror stories. Being kind and happy can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get the awful reaction you talk about and sometimes you get a great response. One time I was working in a store and when it wasn't busy I would have to greet customers as they came in. I thought it was ridiculous and at the time didn't like people greeting me so of course I didn't want to greet others, but I sucked it up and did my job. This one guy walks in and after greeting him he thanked me profusely and tells me it made his day better. I don't know if he was being sarcastic or if he genuinely needed some kindness in his life that day. I will forever be baffled.

13:00 A fisherman sat on a beach with barrels of fish around him, sealed so that the fish wouldn't jump out, but the barrel of crabs he caught had no lid. I was going to ask why he didn't put a lid on it to stop the crabs from escaping, but then I saw why. Every time one crab would start to crawl over the rim of the barrel, the crabs below it would grab onto its legs and drag it back down, every single time, without fail. Those people you described: I call them crabs, because that's what they are. Pitiful beings who only want to drag everyone else down to their level.

Used to work at Hollywood Video, back when it was nothing but VHS cassettes. Places was so roach infested, couldn't believe it. Manager explained to me it's because people take the cassettes home to their roach infested homes and the roaches hitch a ride back to the store in the cassettes and cases. Or, if someone rented a VCR, they brought it back with a bunch of their roaches inside. I remember opening a case to check if a cassette was rewound and a bunch of roaches crawled out all over my hand and arm. Don't miss that job much.

My sister went to college in New York, and one year got an apartment in the Bronx. One day she was using her microwave with something that required like 10 to 15 minutes to cook. After about six or seven minutes cockroaches just started pouring out of every single vent or hole. Just tons of them all jumping ship at once. She totally freaked out. Her roommate was level headed enough to press stop on the microwave, but the emotional trauma was already done. She said the whole apartment stunk like cooked cockroaches for days. She was like mentally scared by the experience, and moved up out of that place as soon as possible.

Didn't even bother speaking to the kid since it's not mine. That and the parent was right there. I don't know which pissed her off more. The idea that she'd go to jail for theft if she didn't pay for it or the fact that she was absolutely livid when the manager refused to fire me because he overhead the whole thing, backed me up, and heard me be polite as can be.

At my retail job, of which I can't tell where I work due to company policy, not that I wouldn't mind sharing the world where I work, since it's a great store, I have not had a bad customer. The worse customer I had was this person who bought over 100 cases of soda, and we had to get 2 flats, which are normally used for TV's, to get them all out the door. Her reason for buying them? They were on sale... and the sale was going to end 2 weeks later. We were worried that it would not fit, but the women came prepared. She had what could be called a U-Haul without the label at the ready, and we got it all in. Took us 15 minutes the 2 of us to get it all in.

Speaking as someone who's an electrical engineer, roaches love electronics & electric motors because they like negative ions, for some reason, I don't know why. I lived in an apartment complex that had roaches. On one occasion, I was watching television, & heard that electrical arcing sound coming from the kitchen. I rushed over to the kitchen area (open floor plan), & I see dozens of cockroaches pouring out of one of the electrical outlets. I guess one of them had bridged a voltage somewhere inside the box & shorted it out. If that wasn't bad enough, on another occasion a few weeks later, I was going to make a pitcher of strawberry margaritas, so I pulled my blender out from the corner of the counter where it was plugged in, put the jar (the top of the blender is called a jar) on top, put the ice, booze, & fruit in, then hit the button. Immediately I see dozens of roaches of all sizes come pouring out of the bottom of the base, grossed me the fuck out. I hit the stop button, pulled off the jar, & killed as many of the little bastards as I could. Then cleaned up everything & blended my margaritas, because after all that, I sure as fuck needed a drink. So yeah, if you have roaches, they are going to crawl inside your electronics & electrically-powered appliances.

Worked at Walmart after dropping out of college. Kid peed on the floor of the toy aisle. Mom was very upset that I didn’t just wipe it with a paper towel. I explained sanitary issues, and she said I obviously had no kids. I quit. Went back to college and now will be graduating with a doctorate. I don’t have kids still lol.

Worked at Walmart in like 2005. Unpacked DVDs in electronics when a Karen comes up with a receipt and a OG PlayStation. Wants a refund. I tell policy, ain’t got time for this shit so call a manager after she doesn’t take that answer. This manager is such a push over that refunds this receipt even though it won’t scan on a system we hadn’t sold in years.

It’s amazing how so many people just don’t look after their stuff... used controllers covered in scratches, consoles containing cockroaches, my god

So a few months back, I bought a copy of dragon age inquisition for ps3, used, from my local gamestop. When I got home, I realized they sold me for two copies, one of which even included a disc. I returned to the store the next day and they apologized and refunded the second charge, but I'm curious if that was actually just an attempt to make an extra sale.

Last week I greeted someone at the register with my normal kinda sing songy "hello, how can I help you?" and this late 40s guy looks at me real weird. I tell him his total and he literally mocked my vocal inflection. I've never felt so attacked for being a personable human.

I have zero independent game stores here in NJ. It's gamestop, Walmart, Target, other big box stores and that's it.

I wish, no such thing in my city anymore. I refuse to buy games from Amazon, so I have to pick between Best Buy, Wal-mart, Fred Meyer, Target, or Gamestop.

I walked into a store with my mom and broke a statue on accident into like 20 pieces. Instead of doing what bad parents do in your stories my mom bought glue and made me use my allowance to buy the statue and made me glue it together.
