odd experiences you all had. Curious as to where specifically these things occurred where you were all debilitated to these degrees. In San Francisco, probably the most liberal city in the US, I taught elementary school kids that were more physically fit than any of these comments and I'm sure would have been overjoyed doing the activities in this video. If I'd had the high budget displayed in this video I would have done these. I raised a child that is now an adult that is far more physically fit than this video .. of children that look emaciated and highly uncoordinated. I think that your rose tinted glasses are faulty and that even though current kids really are physically hindered by excessive phone usage most of them far surpass 1950 and prior feeble physicality standards.
@gregj66482 жыл бұрын
I should add that my young child can run a sub 6 minute mile and easily do 25 pull ups .. far higher standards than old generations. tbh my cousin that I'd consider to be as unathletic as it could possibly get is a highly respected, prolific Marine. While I'm not a proponent at all of physicality increases corresponding to technological advances in any way, it's pretty obvious that 50+ years ago had INCREDIBLY low standards and really is absolutely ridiculous that anyone thinks that the people of that far in the past and prior had much of any regard at all about their health.

I almost can't even recognize thin bodies in good shape anymore. You just don't see them around you in the US. Our current physical state is light years away from these tough, strong, healthy men.

they were probably like "I bet by new millennium everyone will be in peak physical shape" nope we went the completely opposite direction

Speaking of dodgeball, I was 17 years old and still the smallest in my class (4'11 3/4"). Nobody else could touch me. After 15 minutes of failed attempts, the coach called the game off. I was infuriated saying that the game wasn't over until somebody could hit me from the other side, if not, my team won. He called it a draw which was unfair and afterwards I became a boxer 🥊. That way there was only one winner, and most times it was me.

In my highschool gym became an optional course, and it was only black kids and the teacher just gave them a basketball and it was basketball everyday, so i dropped out.

this isnt too different from what I do now. the 30s kids were tough bc they were outside 24/7 and also world war 2.

Wish I spent most of my childhood outside. Darn it. I played outside significantly until I was 14. Sad atheist society without prayer is what it does to you.
@wxc90762 жыл бұрын
Kids in the 30’s were not outside most children were in child labor and there wasn’t as much ethical code then so it was often they went to school then went to work for the rest of the day then came home at night

No, obesity was still there. It was just that more schools encouraged fitness back then.

I was a Battersea (London) schoolboy in the 1950s and that is the sort of thing we did. However weight training was forbidden, as medical authorities said it was harmful before adulthood. That explains our standard physiques, skinny and fit.

It's shame that we don't see mroe of these nowadays. Instead, we have more saying that "overweight is beauty" and "enjoy your life" and eat whatever, and government is like "hey, whatever works for our voting rate is welcomed".
