Yea man that’s actually a legit movement. If someone can do that then they are really strong. It’s called a barbell rollout.
@JackgarPrime
@JackgarPrime Жыл бұрын
The barbell rollout is a legit exercise that people still do today. You can see what stuff stuck around because they were actually good, and what got tossed out over time. Obviously squats are good, ab rollouts are good, incline dumbbell bench is good. All the goofy vibration machines and stuff were basically nonsense, though.

I’m actually surprised the dude benching with dumbbells was doing it right. Back then they emphasized benching with the bar but actually having your wrists in the vertical position works more muscles. You can find fancy bench presses that have your wrists in that position nowadays because benching the traditional way while SUPER EFFECTIVE can strain your shoulders so it’s cool seeing that included here in something so old.

@@Idk-do1ui Probably something to do with rotator cuffs and flaring of elbows I suppose? By doing the vertical/neutral grips, the tendency to flare elbows contributing to internal rotation is reduced which is kind of useful as you're essentially going to be internally rotating your arms at a height. But on the wrist issue there is a risk regarding pronation and a more exaggerated example is RSI in desk monkies, the solution being... use a neutral grip mouse/setup!
