My local used movie place has recently (last 6months or so) started stocking new stuff. They seem to focus on cult movies/imports for the new stuff but have a great selection that you can’t find anywhere else. I’ve bought some of my stuff there so I hope they keep doing it. They have a great black Friday sale coming up. Buy 3 get 5 free! My mom and I are making that our only black friday shopping. I love being able to browse in person. I find so much stuff I never would have thought to look for.

That is awesome I love hearing that! We need more local places like that to start stocking newer movies, cult films, and imports. I'd be doing Black Friday shopping there of I could.

Video Rental stores like Blockbuster would bring physical media back in demand because they buy multiple copies of the same movie.

Video rental stores would work great in rural areas big time.

@@FanZceneVids I would go to a video rental store regularly. A ton of movies that streaming doesn't have. Plus I wouldn't have to put up with the ads once the movie started.

My local Best Buy was *huge* in physical media at its peak. Around 2005-2010 or so, there was so much there I’d get bored browsing before I could ever finish walking their aisles full.

Mine closed, they only had a small basket of cheap movies, their used stuff was way overpriced, i get my dvds/blueray elsewhere. I don't like to spend more than ten dollars per season and not more than three dollars per movie, i go to wonderbook or get the Blu-ray sets where theres also DVD, so i can give my mom a copy so there's a backup.

Great show! So true, I think physical Media will be around for decades still, sold online through labels like MVD, Troma, Vinegar Syndrome, Shout Factory, ETR and so on. I think we'll be ok.

Thanks man! We will definitely be ok with physical media, wish we had more available in stores though.

Hello FanZcene, I was just at my local Target & all they have is a small selection of Christmas movies. That's it. No more new releases of physical media. Nothing, but books & vinyl & toys. Truely heartbreaking for me as a collector. At least Wal-Mart & Amazon always seem to have what I want online & my mom has already gotten what I want for Christmas. Do you have additional words of comfort for me?
@FanZceneVids2 ай бұрын
I know it may seem dower, but I feel like physical media will comeback to stores. It may take a bit, but a resurgence is definitely on the way. Physical media ain't going anywhere, just be patient.

Here In Australia we have only really one Major retailer JB HIFI and the floor Space for 4k,Blu Ray and DVDs is shrinking making way for vinyl which I can Understand but Funko Pops I will never see the appeal. As It is I am waiting on an Imprint title through there online as its not in there stores anyway.

It’s the ultimate plan of the globalist. They make way more money selling us digital licenses then they do physical copies. We can watch and share. There’s no way they want us to continue buying physical. They’re trying to face them out. This is not a death because it failed. This is a death because they’re killing it on purpose. All these large companies such as target and Best Buy are being paid to not sell them. It’s all about making money last the physical stores make the more money the big corporations that can sell licenses make.

What are your thoughts regarding labels (VinSyn) having their own dedicated storefronts? Have you ever tried to reach out to them to understand what their foot traffic is? You have great ideas and any data you can review on sales, releases, store front information, it would be a great compliment on your channel! DM me - I'd be happy to even help If Vin Syn fandom has a dedicated fanbase, imagine if we had boutique coalitions that did smaller stores.

I'd love to see labels have more storefronts, especially in the US. I believe VinSyn has a store in Canada only. Never reached out to them, but that's something to think about in terms of data and foot traffic.

The fact is that the big stores are no longer interested in physical media, which is of course a shame for the collector community who like to buy their films locally. I would also prefer to buy my films in the store, but the selection is getting smaller and smaller for someone like me who just wants the film without all the packaging madness, especially when I see these prices 😒

This is exactly what's hurting physical media. So many like you, want to buy in physical stores but those stores are shrinking or getting rid of physical. It's a sad state of affairs.

Gotta give it to Barnes & Noble. James Daunt, a successful bookseller from the UK, who became the CEO of B&N in 2018, at one point wanted to eliminate the movies, music areas in their stores. Around after COVID-19 though, the sales rose in those areas. James, who also accredited to Taylor Swift, said not all people like/use streaming, that there will always be a desire for physical media.

We still have a lot of physical media to choose from Greg. People are just not interested like they used to before the collectors market is a niche market but online Bull moose scarecrow video in Seattle they don't get much ads but mostly through word of mouth and LG who stops making players who cares? PS 5 still has a disc drive for 4k movies and games hell I live in south East Asia and I'm lucky that I can get new and old movies on blu-ray at least and some 4k's too but I have to order it online. Yeah Ebay scalpers are horrible they over price items Wal-Mart should care more about their physical media internet sucks for sure Greg even in 2024 going into 2025 not always reliable physical media is better
