That is a great haul! I appreciate that you acknowledge the worth of the DVD format. Many retro channels tend to either talk about VHS only or go straight to Blu-ray or 4K, but with modern movies like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves still coming out on the format, it proves that DVD is still a great format. Plus it's just a fun, nostalgic format. That Teddy Ruxpin DVD is awesome. I've never owned it as I got the most recent complete series DVD box set for The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin, which is now thirteen years old now as it came out in 2012. Also, you really will be getting the original resolution on the Teddy Ruxpin DVD as they took the broadcast masters, digitized them, and put them on the discs. No remastering or anything like that. So what you see on the DVD is what you'd have seen on TV from 1987 to whatever year the reruns stopped airing in the early to mid '90s. They did that with every DVD release of the series. Just as an FYI. I haven't picked up anything for myself since before the holidays, but for Christmas I got a book called Starter Villain by John Scalzi, a modern day Star Wars novel, the first five episodes of a late '90s/early 2000s Anime series called Medabots on DVD, and a set of Dice for DnD. The Dice are kept in a foam tray that resembles a VHS tape and the tray slides into a box that resembles the box for a blank VHS tape that you'd record movies and TV shows onto.

@@tgif1345 man that’s great to know about the Teddy Ruxpin DVDs. You know me, I don’t mind the original resolution! Sounds like you got some great stuff too, especially those D&D dice!
@tgif1345Күн бұрын
@@TheCassettePhase Right? My best friend found those dice for me somewhere, and picked them up for me as I started playing D&D almost a year ago. I'm not currently playing as I was a temporary player in the group I was playing with, but I'm sure I'll find another group to play with in the future. The only thing they did do to The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin for the DVD releases is remove the interstitial title bumpers that started and ended every commercial break. But that's about it.
@TheCassettePhaseКүн бұрын
@ very cool! And I would have preferred that they left those in, but not a big deal!
@tgif1345Күн бұрын
@@TheCassettePhase Same, just because those title bumpers are just as nostalgic for me as the show itself. But, I have two tapes that are nothing but Teddy Ruxpin episodes that my dad taped off the TV for me back in 1990, and they include the bumpers on them.

Good haul! I scored two movie pickups recently: Black Christmas 4k Blu-ray (my favorite Christmas spooky) and The Last Starfighter on DVD. Also, been into vintage BMX bikes lately and scored a few bikes in the last few weeks. On the Brady Bunch: Didn't it seem like that show was on ALL day long as a kid? I felt like one episode would just run into the next those days home from school. Mr. Brady's den is my favorite part of the show as an adult. I want a den like his. Your den would make Mr. Brady proud :)

@@elibourgard8969 great pickups! And I have been resisting pursuing a vintage BMX for many years due to the cost, but I’m so tempted and think it may be worth it. My only concern would be riding one again as I am 6’2 and not nearly as flexible as I was when I was younger! And yes, the Brady den, and the whole house really, has been a major inspiration for my own spaces.

@@TheCassettePhase Yeah, on the BMX bikes, my first two I got were 20 inch bikes and I'm 6"1' so they are no fun to ride. So then I wisened up and bought a 26 inch GT Pro Performer (a 2023 model) and it's sick and I'm having fun trying to learn some basic tricks on it and mostly just cruising. The two vintage bikes I bought I only grabbed because I got incredible deals on craigslist locally for them.

@ yeah that 2023 bike seems like my speed. I’ll be hunting for one!

that vhs book sounds similar to the movie from a year or so ago "I saw the tv Glow" which was surprisingly really good.

@@sirwin7776 I hadn’t heard of that, but I looked into it and it sounds cool. I added it to my watchlist on Max. Thanks!

Need to add Escape From LA to go with NY! Also was just talking about the cardboard snap DVD cases. I prefer them, they’re cooler and have the pictures and chapters on the inside cover, but they wear and are harder to store on the shelf because they’re not uniform and just get caught on eachother.

Also just finished my second reading of The Stand this year! My first since my TCC days. All in on the book content. Those Dungeon Crawler Carl books are supposed to be amazing. Lastly, I just read Way of Kings this year!! Get ready.
