Hi, pretty much do the same except I put the dvd in plastic sleeves like for cds. You could put blu ray case and all inside box...should fit...tony

To be honest this is a great solution to space saving. Kinda looks like a comic book collection. I may have to do this at some point in the future. Nice idea mate.

Alright, me bristolian, here is the promised update : in the afternoon it was very calm at work today, so, while waiting for responses and new stuff to roll, i started with sleeving on the side. which was really rewarding, since some of my dvds are from the 90s and when you take the inlays out the cases really don't look good anymore. yet in the sleeve the whole thing is as good as new. after work i continued and didn't stop until all 100 were used and already ordered new ones. i also threw stuff out i don't need anymore and arranged things i want to keep, but cant' sleeve (like steelbooks and those cardboard cases). a really mint way to get your old stuff in order and get rid off some needless plastic trash, mind. thanks again for the great idea!

Good to hear mate! I'm glad i was able to help! It's such a space saver without compromising the integrity of the physical media. Just bought another pack myself. I've started doing my DVD Series now up to 2 discs. Saving alot of space already!

I did this with some of my CDs and now thinking of doing this for my DVDs.

It’s a real space saver. And being able to keep the artwork too means you can always go back to cases later on.

Hi Dave. If you had invested in an emerging markets fund instead you would be a millionaire by now! Keep up the good work Sir!

I've actually been told that a few time XD

Ere mate, that’s proper advice. I have two drawers with old dvds that are at their carrying capacity, so slimming these down would help a lot. ordered 100 of these sleeves and will start archiving soon. what also sold me was that you can see the artwork well, mind. only issue is finding the one you're looking for, but going alphabetical is a good start, innit? that's mint. thanks for the tip, me babber, i'll let yer know how it turns out.

Cheers mate! Do let me know! i'm still toying with doing it with my blurays and by tv shows... Also, your Bristolian is getting better ;-)

V/H/S is an interesting anthology movie collection. Many fun stories but many not so fun stories within.

Yeah, i enjoy the V/H/S movies

only just came across this video good idea but how do you dispose of the empty cases?
@BristolianDaveАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! I was lucky that one of the charity shops I frequent had a link with a recycling firm that took them. Unfortunately they don’t have that anymore so a few have gone in the bin recently. The bluray cases are easy to give away to people. The DVD ones, not so much.

I've not had any issues yet with scratched discs. Just got to look after them 🙂

Dunno mate... I guess do it with titles that you don’t think you’ll revisit that often.

Where did you find the black box?
@BristolianDave5 ай бұрын
That is a card box from IKEA. I now have them in baskets which are easier to flick through. I'll have to do an update video soon.

Where can i find these sleeves??
@BristolianDave2 ай бұрын
I usually get the off Amazon “3L DVD Sleeves for Storage with Space for Cover - Pack of 100”. They have their own website too “T3L shop”. There are other brands available on Amazon too. And they do bluray ones. Hope this helps!

Haha, i was wondering if the video is just pre recorded and your voice later. You answered a few questions i have had right at the start, especially the scratching part. Here is the thing, if you want to avoic that, you could put the discs in seperate paper-cases, not sure if that is a thing in britain, but installation discs for hardware came mostly in those papercases. You could put them in there and then in the see through, double savety so to speak. In general i don't like that idea. If the movie case box has a nice artwork, a real one, not those damn photoshop crap of even stock photos that have nothing to do with the movie, then i would not do it. Another thing, from that box you showed, i would have a hard time knowing what is in there. Maybe it is different if you put the stuff inside yourself. I kinda seperate by genre and then by alphabet. Your box is a mishmash, so if you look for a specific movie, you would have to search all the boxes until you find it. Sure, you could put a list in the box with the titles, or a digital list somewhere to just update it if you change something. Or sort them before putting them away and then a label on the box that says: "100 discs from A to B1" next box is from "b2 to E" and so on. To me, it should be like books or a videostore, but with that amount of discs you have it is of course a space problem. I don't collect everything, so i don't have that much of a problem. :) One question remains: What did you do with the dvd cases? :D (unless you said it and i missed this info)
@BristolianDave3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching bud! All good points. It's definately not for everyone. When you get to a collection my size (almost 6000 titles) you need to start being inventive. Eventually they will come out of the boxes and go onto shelves with alphabetic dividers so I can see where everything is. Either that or i have brought stickers to put on the box to identify what letters are contained in it. I have 12 boxes full so far plus some other previous boxes. i'll probably do another video once everything is sorted and decided upon so you can see what it's like.

@@BristolianDave The decision does not have to be final :) It will be interesting to see. I know the room needed for a huge collection from working in a video store, sure it had the newer movies several times, but at this point it was stil VHS :D shortly before i stoped working there the transition to DVD came about. But we have had looooaads of shelves and "cupboards" with several thousand tapes. And on display rack upon rack upon rack ... love the old days going though different stores and find new movies i have never watched with awesome artwork to catch your eye. The last years of video stores were pretty boring with the photoshop covers...

Who needs streaming services when you have 6000 dvds and growing.

Exactly!

You could always put them in a box from Amazon that holds hundreds to a thousand only you might not be able to put in the art work

I've actually got a new way that i am storing these sleeves now. I'll hopefully do a video on it soon :-)
