This was, hands down, the BEST PTA video on youtube. So informative, detailed & realistic. None of that bubbly "ohh I'm a PTA, come see how most days are sunshine & rainbows" Thank you for taking the time/effort to do this

Question: how much percent of what you've learned into the school, will apply to your day by day job, i heard is a 2 years program, I heard it takes one year to finish all your prereques, and you need to study math, english, etc?from I see in the video is not so much. Here, in my country, you dont need to go to school, you start as a PTA aide and work your way up. PS. Sorry for my english, I live in Bulgaria

Hi Veronica, I'm in Houston as well and thinking of going into PTA. I'm also a Massage Therapist, although I only practice occasionally as my full-time job is in another field. Did you pursue the PTA program? Where are you in the process? Would love to pick your brain and ask a questions if you ended up going after it. Let me know if there's an email where I can send you a message?

Very informative video. This position is very involved. What is the Physical Therapist doing during all of this time? It seems like the PTA is doing most of the work.

It depends on the clinic. PT's organize a plan based on what doctors diagnosis is, but in clinic where I had rehab on my knee, the PT was very involved with patients. They definitely just don't sit behind their desk all day. At the minimum, he met with me at the start of AND at the end of every session also to discuss what would be happening, what projected outcome would be & make sure I knew how to do my "homework" excercises. But many times he saw me even more than that to check up on me while I was doing my repetitions

It's 2 years in America and it will eventually be a bachelors most likely. You learn everything you need to know for an entry-level job, but what you use depends on the area you're working in. In Bulgaria, people actually give a shit about other humans beings so you aren't bogged down with laws and accreditation (i.e. MORE MONEY MAKING), so I can see why you can move your way up. Out here you NEED to go through a program to work and become certified etc.

SEVENTEEN PATIENTS A DAY, 30 mins each back to back that is, assuming there is a paperwork slot of 30 mins, that would be a 10 hour day including lunch. Just to give you guys an idea.

I have been a physical therapist assistant for 28 years the field is flooded and government plus insurance cut backs make this job unstable. Never know if you are going to have work. Used to be a good job now not so much!!! I have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet.

Lyndon Prince Yeah, I don’t think they’re underpaid. I think a median salary is a good living (and it grows), and a great living if you’re a PTA in certain states like Texas.
