Any relationship or comparison with Tachyons? I.e. any overlapping hypothetical curiosity/discussion here if we look at the properties of both?

At 1:50, Andrew misspoke. Energy of a particle is Planck's constant times its frequency which is the inverse of its wavelength.

I can imagine an infinitely stretched particle. How about applying elasticity, one of the properties we usually observe, to particles? What if the particle is like a rubber ball or a rubber ball with goo on it? A rubber ball deprived of energy takes on a hard and compressed shape, and conversely, when energy is applied, it may stretch and sway like a string.

replace the word 'stretched' with 'collapsed' in regards to a wavelength. and the comparison no longer makes sense. not sure if these two concepts are related. what does it mean to 'apply elasticity?' and why would you?

Or... replace the word particle with voxel and treat it as a point in space instead 🤔 that then stretches to infiniti upon any particle reaction, embedding angular momentum onto particle(s) as it does.

Do these zero energy angle momentum conserving particles have an effect on mass? If so, could this be an explanation for dark matter? (I am obviously a complete layman)
@HolyMith
@HolyMith Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. Dark matter is localised, so it "clumps up" in different regions. Infinite wavelength particles would be highly homogeneous (distributed). Being massless bosons, they would be travelling at the speed of light, meaning they would rapidly disperse, an effect we don't see with dark matter. And that's not to mention the insane density of particles that would be needed to have an observable gravitational effect. They would have zero values for all energy components of the energy-momentum tensor, and extremely small values for spin (the only momentum they have). I'm not so sure about dark energy however.

Sounds like a voxel (maybe not so much a particle but a point). Like a television pixel provides potential color - in this case, the vacuum/fabric of space, waiting for an interaction, then providing potential angular momentum in exchange.

if you learn quantum field theory you'll know particles are just excitations of the underlying fields.

@@jjeKKell you could think of it that way, one can represent that with Feynman diagrams, for example electron-positron anahilation generating a photon.

How can a zero-energy particle have an infinite wavelength when our universe is finite? Mathematically, this make sense. But physically? There is no such thing. Could it be that a zero-energy particle is just a temporary state then either become positive or negative energy particle? Further zero-energy particle has infinite wavelength because it is not moving? Could it be at zero degree Kelvin? The lowest attained was 38 picokelvins. Could negative-energy make FTL possible? Like putting a negative-energy generator in front of a body?

But information is a boundary condition?? Unless each of these zero-energy particles store exactly the same information as every other zero-energy particle?? Because if each of these particles stored exactly the same information then each bit of that information would not be bounded dimensionally or it would not be characteristic of any particular particle it would be common to all and that would make the information not be a boundary condition?? Cause if particle A had information Z and particle B had information N, then information Z and N are 8:18 distinct and characteristic of particles A and B?? But if both had the same information Z then the particles can be considered the same particle, there would be no boundaries in distinction terms of information each stored??

I thought 'Gravitons' have never been actually observed/discovered, and 'Gravity' is still an unproven theory? Gravitons are the Quanta of Gravity, but if Gravity is an unproven theory then so are the Quanta of Gravity

A particle with zero-energy would not be localized at any particular location since zero-energy is not quantifiable?? So, you consider spears out all over the universe with 100% possibility, but it could not be a spike in a probability wave??

This is getting weirder by the day. It has implications for how "entanglement", "super position", "mass energy equivalent" etc. actually work. Maybe even needs an "information / energy / mass" equivalent equation. It is encroaching on "consciousness" itself, and what is its actual nature. Need a "consciousness", "information" relationship equation-understanding. That small and large, and local and non-local may only be imaginary concepts.

Consciousness has never and will never play a role in physics. That's your personal, and incorrect, interpretation of the discussion.
@bigpicture3
@bigpicture3 11 ай бұрын
@@AfonsoCL Well isn't that the pure absurdity of the whole discussion and of science in general. Trying to UNDERSTAND something, while ignoring the MECHANISM OF UNDERSTANDING. (consciousness) That only makes sense to idiots. And even in the face of their double slit experiments that suggests that "consciousness" plays a key part of what is observed, they still choose to ignore it. That such as the "entanglement" phenomena would not suggest that time is not real, and consciousness is somehow creating that illusion of time. Or conversely the implied between distance does not exist, and consciousness is somehow creating the illusion of spatial distance. Only idiots would try to create an airplane while ignoring the properties of air.
