Thank you so much. I've said it before and I'll say it again.. Thnks for sharing those kind of tricky questions, which we usually end up having during the finals. Keep it up sir.

Hi, sir. When can we exactly say that an object floats on a liquid? Can we still consider the object floating when it is totally submerged and yet its top is just even with the surface of the liquid? Thank you for the awesome videos again and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year to you. You can use this definition: "If it doesn't sink to the bottom, it floats"

Sir,what if the object isn't floating, then what would be the formula?

If the whole object is submerged, the using Archimedes' principle: the buoyancy force equals the weight of the displaced liquid: BF = density of the liquid x volume of the object x acceleration due to gravity

thank you sir , your videos are amazing, i wanted to know what if the block is hollow inside? because i have been working on a fish feeding buoy which is hollow inside and hold a silo for fish bait. i need to calculate the waterline. please give me your guidance.

it will have a much lower density if the inside is hollow, everything still applies

Hi sir, I want to ask. Even if the liquid at the top layer doesn't have direct contact with the bottom of the object, it stills provide buoyancy force of its own? I hope you can clear my doubts. Thank you.

The weight of the top layer must somehow add pressure to the bottom layer. If not the top layer can only exert pressure on the object sideways which would not add to the buoyancy force.
