Why does it work with touch only? Why not by pin, even if the circuit is complete? Because pin also allows current to pass through it....

When we are placing our finger due to the very high resistance of our body very little amount of current passes which responsible to turn on the transistor and current passes from collector to emmiter.....and when we were placing those pins due to little resistance a high current passes through it. And due to the high current there is no change in Transistor

When you put the finger on both pins due to the very high resistance of our body a very few current passes to the finger and goes to the base of transistor.........due to this Little current the transistor Let permitted to the main current passes through the collector to the emmiter of the transistor and which results to glow the LED In other words we can say that the transistor is working like a temporary switch.......the switch is on untill you remove your finger from the pins

Due to the function of transistor.........the current in through the collector and Out through the Emitter And the base is just like a regulator it only allow the current to pass from collector to emmiter when low current is passed through it other wise there is break in the circuit

It's i think cardboard issue Very little current conducting through cardboard (between touch sensor pin Try changing cardboard.....if it's very dim like negligible then just leave it Remove the battery after testing to avoid battery drain

Transistor is working as a switch here Then it gets little electrical signal to its base pin it acted as close circuit and when there is not current in its base it is working as open circuit

Its working is preety simply......after placing our finger to those pins a little amount of current passes though our finger and hence it goes to the base of Transistor and the Transistor get turned on and the current will flow though collector to emmiter and hence our circuit compled and LED get turned on
