no need to use uv method. when you differentiate x^3/3 it will come out to be 3x^2/3 so 3 and 3 will cancel and you will get x^2, uv method is only necessary for where there are variables in denominator also.

Solution to homework question: U = x³/3 - 4x + 8......(i) F net = 0 Therefore, -dU/dx = 0 Differentiating equation (i) we get... -(x² - 4) = 0 => x = +2 or -2 When x = +2, => d²U/dx² => d²(x² - 4)/dx² On differentiating it, we get.. => 2x => 2 × (+2) => 4 So, d²U/dx² > 0 U = minimum Stable equilibrium. When x = -2, => d²U/dx² => d²(x² - 4)/dx² On differentiating it, we get.. => 2x => 2 × (-2) => -4 So, d²U/dx² < 0 U = maximum Unstable equilibrium.

@Yoey here point B has more potential energy compared to point E which means it is unstable but when sir compared point B and A , B is stable so due to this problem we should use the concept of local maxima or minima which means comparing only nearby or surrounding points

@@yoey1097 sir is saying understand how it is moving( in that red line ) it is in unstable equilibrium with respect to x axis if u give a little push the ball or the particle start moving but with respect to y axis particle is in stable equilibrium so if u give a small push the particle will come back towards its position 😇 hope u understood if u didnt understand u can just imagine a vertical line and a horizontal line where vertical line is y axis and horizontal is x axis and imagine the movement of the particle
