The reversible sign doesn't mean equilibrium. We have not been provided the information whether ∆H has been given for forward reaction or the backward reaction, so if you solve for forward reaction and assume ∆H is +40.63, ∆S is 108.8 then you would get G as +4.08. But if you do it the other way round,means you take Ag2O as product you would get G= -4.08. @@shivamtalokar272 see...ur i have taken it out by the ratio process and the the value of the ratio del H/del S came 373.4375...thus i took the first digit without rounding off and del T came equal to del H/del S...if u also multiply 373.4375 with the entropy 108.8 the value Del G would be zero..so it was just a confusion based numbers after the decimal

Sir, In the reaction: A--> X + Z, bonds are breaking therefore ∆S must be +ve so the term -T∆s is -ve. ∆H is already -ve so the ∆G should be -ve at all temperature. Can you tell me where am I getting wrong becoz I dont we can assume in that reaction that the ∆S is Positive

Sir thank you for what you have been doing for us! So will you please check the video at 31:15 where you have divided the inequation by ∆S. But if ∆S is negative you cannot divide the inequation with that term without changing the inequality. Therefore sir if ∆ H and ∆ S are both negative and for the reaction to be spontaneous so that ∆ G be negative shouldnt T be smaller then ∆H/∆S?

It is so surprising to note that when I finished over with class 12, you were yet to born Sir, but though am an engineer today, where on to become so as one, had to learn lots of chemistry but without a cent percent grasp because of lot of unclarity over these fundamentals. I lament why didn't we have the opportunity like these online platform in our times where we could have done away with our classroom teachers to whom we attended to their classes but had taught us quite superficially to get us carried away without completely grasping and loving the subject.
