Sir, At 12:03 , in upper limit of Vx , how can it be infinity which is way bigger than speed of light.
@PhysicswithAkashGoyal4 жыл бұрын
First thing about infinite is, its not a defined number... we cant say that infinite refers to what number..... in many situations we theoretically put limit to infinity... for example in a charging circuit complete charging theoretically takes infinite time but we know in 5-6 time constants we achieve almost complete charging and 5-6 time constants time can be of the order of mili seconds.... for nuclear forces even distance of the order of angstrom is infinitely large as these forces operate in fermi range... so infinite may refer to a number "very large" in that scale of operation of the system.... so its a kind of relative term.

Sir, we have been taught a formula for the collision frequency as (n/6)*Vrms, which fits the KTG equation, so is it a mathematical fluke or is there some reason behind it? I can understand why it is wrong because we assumed all particles move with Vrms, but it fits KTG as follows: P = change in momentum / unit area P = 2 * collision frequency * mass of each particle * velocity of each particle P = 2 * (N/V) * 1/6 * m * (Vrms)^2, we get PV = NkT, which is true. I see that in reality the terms of velocity and collision frequency have to be adjusted according to Maxwell, but why does this result match?

Yes there is a conflict.... But I support formula with factor 1/4. I have seen some standard sources which give 1/4 factor such as IRODOV, ATKINS & SAVELYEV. Even Savelyev book tries to resolve the conflict and explained both the formula in detail. you can read the book by savelyev... name of the book is Physics A General course in Mechanics Molecular physics. page 301-306. you can download e book at drive.google.com/file/d/1ulB5xncVXmE5mPGRR4_qQUa4l79poNAk/view?usp=sharing

Thank you Sir for this video. I understand the math, but I am confused as to why you went from 3-D Maxwell Speed Distribution to 1-D since I do not speak your language. Can you (or anyone) tell me what the reasoning was? Thank you!

that expression was for collision between molecules.
