@TechPeasant4044 күн бұрын
@@ConniePretula from what i have heard lean body mass is a factor for dosage of creatine. the total amount of mitochondria corresponding to this somewhat. besides brown fat most fat cells have few mitochondria so body weight total is less important for dosage. i have also heard that some people are hyper responders to creatine some average and others respond less so the dosage may be more individual. the muscular benefit is seen at lower dosages than what is needed for cognitive benefit. I'm 200lbs with 20%bf it took several weeks of taking 15g a day (5g with each meal) to see a large cognitive benefit. age would also be an important variable. the body can produce creatine yet production declines with age.

Sure, I will still be cautious to not overdo it but now I am very positive that I will be able to work again. My guess would be that since Creatine allows energy to be recycled, meaning the mitochondria dont have to produce as much from scratch, the mitochondria is then not stealing as much GABA or HMB to utilize as a substrate in the TCA cycle. The increased presence of HMB would allow for more protein production and less protein degradation, thereby creating the increase in the protein mentioned in this study.

I was only interested in (and only knew about) the muscle performance sides, but I have noticed quite a remarkable cognitive effect. After just a couple of days I felt that the world was "sharper". At first I thought that it was just better sleep (three kids. That parameter is hard to control), but the effect has persisted through some really sleep deprived periods. I started almost 7 months ago, and I have tried many different brands, out of fear the first one was spiked. I can compare it to that feeling when antidepressants kick in after a couple of weeks. I also eat a diet that has no creatine, which makes me suspect I was somehow "deficient" if that makes any sense.

Is taking creatine supplement hard on the kidneys?
@nababa52173 күн бұрын
According to Chat gpt No, taking creatine supplements is not hard on the kidneys for healthy individuals. Multiple studies have shown that even long-term creatine use (e.g., 3-5g per day) does not cause kidney damage in people with normal kidney function. When is Creatine Safe? ✅ Healthy individuals - No evidence of kidney harm, even with long-term use. ✅ Athletes & bodybuilders - Commonly used without negative kidney effects. ✅ Dosage within recommended limits - Standard doses (3-5g/day) are safe. When to Be Cautious? ⚠ Pre-existing kidney disease - If you have kidney issues, consult a doctor before using creatine. ⚠ High-dose loading phase - Some people take 20g/day for a week, but this is unnecessary and could increase strain on the kidneys. ⚠ Dehydration risk - Creatine pulls water into muscles, so drink plenty of water to avoid potential kidney stress. Scientific Evidence: A study on long-term creatine users found no negative effects on kidney function (measured by blood creatinine, GFR, and other markers). Another study on athletes using creatine for years showed no kidney damage compared to non-users. Conclusion: For healthy people, creatine is safe for the kidneys. If you have any kidney concerns, get a medical check-up before starting supplementatio

Re creatine and mitochondrial function, were these all cells from the same animal - or if not did they control for gender? Without getting too deeply into it, cells have two genomes For humans and mice (and probably other eucaryotes, but ?) the proteins that make up the ETC (notably complex 1) come from both genomes. These proteins need to fit within a couple of angstroms or electron transport degrades, past about ten it fails. I mention gender because there's been some work showing that a nuclear / mitochondrial mismatch is more likely in males. I'd be beyond curious to see any work comparing this mitochondrial shift in mice vs birds, as birds are more adapted to aerobic load (flight) and rodents are not. We humans land in the middle somewhere, which gets me thinking about the "born to run" hypothesis - but that's beyond off-topic here. Thanks for making these, trying to figure if my finances will allow another $$ subscription. I may need to wait for one of the journals to run out before I subscribe to your 'insiders'. Planning to do it, though.

Very funny! But they don't just use creatine, do they?

I’m a top law school educated business lawyer with a 1st percentile IQ. I’ve been lifting for decades. I have met many, many intelligent, interesting, honorable, virtuous, hardworking people in weight rooms in each of the 17 states I’ve lived. Granted, the juicers aren’t always the smartest, but the men who show up year after year to stay healthy and strong for their children and grandchildren are top flight people.

You didn't scratch your chin in this one, but you pulled up your pants at 3:06 and 5:33. A decent belt or a few extra pounds at the mid-section should fix this 😅

I understand that Ω3 supplements have a positive impact on our body. But can these supplements raise total cholesterol and LDL?
@randombartz81635 күн бұрын
What about indirect effects due to lowering homocysteine levels and preventing lowering of choline levels by avoiding it's consumption as a methyl donor for endogenous creatine production throughout the body? I always wonder how much of that is having an impact whenever I see a study linking creatine to brain health.

@@randombartz8163 the most NOTICEABLE things that creatine does are not replication/DNA-related. Not that that's a bad thing to focus on, though. Most notably, creatine upregulates GABA receptors (after causing a deluge of glutamate signalling). I think it might be relevant to think about the time of day of creatine administration in these experiments. There might be different effects depending on the time it's taken. I also think it's definitely not going to have the same effect if you just keep taking more in the same day. Ideally, it would be given about once every 6 days or so in experiments. If not more. I love the replication-centric perspective, but it's kind of a dead end. Who's thinking about that stuff? Are people who think like that even rich? There's some basic demographic stuff that needs to be covered. It's not just for kids. If you invent something scientific, for example, and then it gets used in wars, people need to be able to look up what demographics the inventor was a part of. Sure, you could argue that I'm an inventor who's erased all of my demographics because of this. Glad you noticed. Thank you very much. This Physionic guy is great. I would love to meet him. I really hope we can make him become mainstream.

Would love to get your perspective on whether these and muscle cell effects could be reasonably extrapolated to the pH buffered version of creatine ie kre-alkalyn

7:00 bad joke. I know some people will get confused about creatines effect on psd-95 levels after that.

If the bar is that low, I can never make another joke again.

@@Physionic You can make jokes, but maybe don’t double down on your joke with a big rubric. One doesn’t expect jokes from a science-based channel, so it’s easy to take what is written in text to heart, especially for non-native English speakers. Also, it’s easy to miss the later part where you verbally and pretty swiftly say it’s a joke. I’m sure you know yourself how important clarity is for anything science-based. My point is that the effort to make a joke should not be greater than the effort to clarify that it was just a joke. Long text, but it’s honest feedback. And I know some will get confused by that because I was one of them.

Reading these comments reminds me that it's impossible to talk about creatine, something so simple and universally accepted, without a ton of people coming up with crazy theories and symptoms???
