This demo is amazing and made it an instabuy for me, but wow am I struggling to get similar sounds out of it. I have RTFMd but a tutorial video would be really helpful. I couldn't understand what the strum patterns do for the life of me!

You should be able to get some sounds out of it pretty easily. There's only a few controls for the oscillator itself (string damping types and amounts, and importantly the articulation choice along with the Shape control to get your basic tone). Then use the Prologue/Minilogue envelopes to get snappy keys sounds etc. The strum patterns are triggered by keyswitches, but the LFO needs to be slightly on for it to work. That's the only way we could sync it to tempo. :) Hope that helps!

How would we get anything that sounds like the patches in this video?
@Dirtboxsynthesizers2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nico, The user osc parameters are quite basic (damping types and amounts) as per the product page info on the website. The demo was done by a third party, and he used just those controls mostly, plus a bit of volume/filter enveloping. We don't have those patches ourselves, unfortunately, so I can't say what the settings were exactly, but if you start with some basic damping you will get a very good starting point (especially with then checking how the different articulations & 'Shape' control affect the tone), then add in envelopes as required. Hope that helps!

@@Dirtboxsynthesizers Thanks for your reply. I got a pluck sound by setting all knobs to default, turning the other oscillators down to zero so it was just the user oscillator and then selecting articulation 3 and some dampening.

What songs is he playing? The one at 3:00 especially would be really nice to know

Is this NTS-1 compatible?
@Dirtboxsynthesizers4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, technically it will work for NTS-1, but it's designed for more polyphony, really. You get very abrupt changes in mono mode, due to the waveguide tech it uses, so will be OK for a lot of the sounds, but others may seem quite unnatural.

Very good work! Does the oscillator purchase include these sounds in the Minilogue XD?
@Dirtboxsynthesizers3 жыл бұрын
Hi Francisco. They were created by the guy doing the demo, so we don't have them, I'm afraid. There only a handful of controls (plus the amp/filter envelopes), so shouldn't be too difficult to get similar sounds. :)

Are these presets? Or a collection of custom oscillators?? I’m so intrigued regardless lol

16 user digital oscillators. this is ONE that may be uploaded.

Sounds amazing! can i control every parameter of this oscillator on the minilogue xd ? or do i have to use the software too and does it comes with presets? Thanks!
@Dirtboxsynthesizers4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes the app only sends Note On/Offs and CCs, so you don't need to use it to access all of the features, you can just use the XD. The only thing that the app does better is the strum pattern keyswitches - but they are just low and high MIDI notes, so could be triggered from anything.
