Yeah, I completely agree. WAP was at least sexual in a powerful, almost feminist way. The sexuality had a meaning and a context. In this video the producers were just showcasing their intimate body parts up close. This wasn’t for women to show their sexual power, this was for audience to drool over sexual women. The main focus isn’t on the singer, dancers or their skills. They focus solely on their bodies and body parts. And that feels like sexual objectification. It seems similar (to WAP) on a first glance but it isn’t. At all. Also, there wasn’t THAT much bare skin in the WAP video. (Not that it would necessarily matter). They had nice background/setup and catchy dance moves. This video has nothing but boobs and butt. Of course it’s ok to be sexual. But this isn’t the best way to portray it. I get where you’re coming from. The way this was filmed made it feel like it was objectifying women wayyy more than WAP, maybe unintentionally. PS. I’m not hating on Pia Mia in any way. They probably just wanted to do a sexy, entertaining video but executed it poorly.
