I like Pia Mia. And shes honestly talented enough that she doesnt have to sample anyone. She did it with purpose. But when other artists sample or interpolate songs, its usually not the entire song.. I feel like they just grabbed the Kiss Kiss instrumental, maybe changed the key, and slapped on some new lyrics. Like the beat, the instrumental, and even the melody is the exact same thing. For that reason, when you hear it, you HAVE to think about Kiss Kiss and it's hard to recognize this song as it's own independent work. It's like more of a cover than it's own song, and it kinda feels fraudulent because the song seems plagiarized and Chris's name is not even acknowledged. Chris is 100% getting checks from this song. But even if he getting paid, theres no recognition. I think it sounds great tho. I'm a die hard Chris Brown fan, and Pia definitely did this song justice. She didn't butcher it all. I like pia's music, I like her sound. This was definitely up her ally and she did a good job. I'll keep listening to it

I personally love Pia Mia (I even went to her mini concert when she visited my country), but I can see why she hasn't really blown up. I don't think she's underrated or overrated. She has a beautiful voice which could be showcased in a more complex way (a minimal selection of her older tracks have partly achieved this). But her songs are simple and basic, I don't think she needs to be sampling music. She has the voice and the look, but the writing and producing doesn't seem to be doing her much good.
