What a terrific, snappy arrangement! This is really fine! Also a very early Richard Rodgers score. Thanks for posting this great Vee Lawnhurst roll! Thanks for also posting video of the fully-restored Welte-Licensee expression system in action! It's fascinating to see it work! One thing I really like about these arrangements is that they SOUND possible for one person to play well (and probably are!!! I bet I could play them!)

Ahhhh a true 5 cylinder and classy piano...thanks for the tour... this video shows the superb regulation and restoration that had previously only been revealed by the impressive sound. I can only imagine if my Duo Art had been a full electric Duo Art the lower action would be as fully packed as yours is. Thanks for the magnificent tour of this fine piano.

More videos of the Welte expression components in action, please. This video briefly showed the bass 'mezzoforte hook' being turned off.

Yes, it is. There was no spoolbox emblem when I got this piano that was full of mice and rats nesting. I made this up on the PC. And would you believe a year later I found a nice pic. of him taken around 1906!

I measured the diameter of this pulley. It's 2 1/2 " which is all I came up with at the time, and is OK with me. It gives me just a little more dynamic range and I can adjust the limit thru the rocker valve on top the pump, and making sure there's relief beyond! You should have seen it when I got it from the antique shop! A 5" pulley, and all expression plugged up, glue bound stack bellows, Patches on valve pouches, rat or mouse poo every where!! Plus veniere flapping in the wind!

With all the glowing comments, I almost hate to say anything negative. However, as a rebuilder, I notice things that others might miss. First is the air motor. It's leaking. How can I tell? Look at the pattern left by the sliding valves. Onlt the valve in the center has a good pattern. The one on the far right can't be sealing. Also, notice how the paper waves as the roll rewinds. That's due to the irregularity of the force being applied by the bellows -which also indicates leakage.

The second thing I noticed is the size of the pulley on the electric motor. It's huge! It is suppose to be 2" in diameter. It appears to be 3-1/2" or 4". Why is that an issue? Becuase the rotary vacuum pump is spinning at least twice as fast as it was intended to spin. So, everything inside is going to wear out twice as fast. Secondly, I wonder why was a larger pulley used? The most logical answer is; the system needed more air flow to compensate for leakage in the system.

Anyone notice the video is actually skipping a frame or two here and there? And I can hear a jump in the audio too

@kukral Yes, this is an early Keystone cut from the 90's. I make my own box lables and leaders.

Yes, I see the slide patterns. I can't remember that I resanded the surface or not! It always seemed to run so smooth. After recovering and assembling, I close all ports and turn backward, it would not turn, and no hissing. The next time I lube, I will remember to fine sand the surfaces.

Hi, i had some problems with my old channel, copyrights and stuff like that, last november i started a new channel, lately i'm getting tired of copyrights and such, so i bought a video camera, since last november i have been filming and putting the videos i made on my channel, and found out that i need to improve my skills quite a bit, it isnt as easy as it seems i thought, but im sure i get there in the end.

The motor looks pretty old, has this one been always electric? Or was it a foot pumper?
@pianmn19911 жыл бұрын
The motor and everything else you see is original, just restored. It never was a foot pumper.

Who is the gentleman whose photo is peeking out above the top of the roll in the spoolbox? Is that Edwin Welte?
