I can't play boogie woogie, but I can play baseball. I was the manager/player for a semi-pro team, and we had just finished a team practice and a couple of kids with their mothers came walking by. They had seen us playing and one of the kids said to the other, "I wish we could play." The moms were both on their cell phones, barely paying any attention, and I said, "I've got a bit of time left if they just want to hit a few balls around." They both nodded to me. So I let one kid use a spare glove and had him play the outfield while I pitched to the other one. They were shouting back and forth, "Oh, I can hit one farther than that!" The smiles they both had on their faces and the fun they had made me smile, too. I hope I sparked a little something in them and that will be something they both remember for a bit, and maybe they'll want to play baseball as they grow up. Who knows? Thanks for the talent on display, Terry, and thanks for putting a little bounce in the step and smiles on the faces.

Nice find Terry. I saw the title Last Chance Saloon and thought how did you get to Oakland California? Then I remembered it is named the First and Last Chance Saloon. This was a bar author Jack London hung out in. The bar has that name because it is next to the port so it would be both the first and last chance for sailors to have a drink. Now I have to go down there and see if they have a piano.
