+Steve Rogers And me too!!Fell in love with this piece but never thought I'd get it.. I have a friend who is grade 8 and she said I was mad.. The only barrier is your own belief I think?Obviously once learnt it needs a lot of polishing.. Learning the notes is just the beginning..

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. You take it from a simple perspective, and you give the notes by the book, as well without all of the sophomoric tricks that other KZbinrs try to get away with. Thank you for supplying the beginners with a concrete tutorial.

You are amazing.. In a few days I can play this.. ok, not full speed yet but don't want to forego rhythm for speed yet.. One more week I think.. And this is from someone who never even heard of an arpeggio two weeks ago! Please make part two if you have the time.. You make it so easy.. XXXXXX

@Foreverinsolitude, its just perseverance, i've just finished learning the 1st movement and can play it pretty well, but i've had to practice it every day at least once a day for the last nine weeks!! If you keep on practicing the arpegios then eventually your hands will gain the muscle memory of the movement and then you'll be able to do it! XD

hey shawn can I ask you technique wise, i wanted to know how to get this peice past 50% speed but comfortable and without mistakes, as I go any faster my right hand gets clumsy and stiff and eventually cramps, any advice such as using thrust and pull technique or cartwheel, or is it just practicing slowly with a metronome? also i use the soft pedal a lot because of neighbors. Is this affecting my technique, meaning I might have to exurt more energy and in this song lighter touch is better no?

I can't fucking believe someone made a tutorial for this so simple! I just watched Valentina Lisitsa play this and looked for a tutorial so I could start learning it (I play by ear) I got it in less than a minute once you described the arpeggio pattern and how it interacts with the left hand. Everything is simple variations on that for the intro section and as soon as you told me what chords to play I just applied the pattern. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

It is not surprising. This tutorial does not serve as valuable instruction, as it fails to convey any proper theory to help explain what is going on in the piece of music.

hi Shawn, you referred to the second arpeggio passage as a C natural. isn't it an Ab with a C (LH) in the bass? thx for posting the vids they're helpful. wish you would post the next edition. perhaps people were double posting, but you'll probably find that by letting go of their 'enthusiasm' (or cheating) and posting the next vid you'd get a better viewership. not sure how that works, but it does.
