I only started playing the piano after 65 yoa and a life where I told people I had been born with two left ears. Every choir teacher in my youth told me to move my lips and not make a sound. I have a piano teacher and a friend who is a concert pianist, and they are helping me overcome my emotional baggage. This lesson was great, and I really want to take it seriously. I've been playing the first six pieces of Moulin de Ville. But I've started transposing them into different keys. This has helped a lot. Merci.

Thank you for your tips and this helpful suggestion, i.e., practice does not need to be long in time to be effective. I have been discovering this phenomenon. However, I understand that more time practicing is usually best. I have been encouraged to practice 2 hours per day or at least build up to it.

You lost me when you used the word "should" far too often. In music there are so many ways of learning. Im a self taught musician. Never learned scales. Im almost proficient on piano (after 3 years of dedicated rehearsals daily) --- just rehearsing chords and songs. Never once worried about which finger goes where.

You can never know what you are missing without trying the other way. She is right, you should. It's not something she has made up. It's how human brain works, it's how skills are kept brushed. But if you wanna stay only in your comfort zone, and it is enough for you, of course you don't have to. But if you wanna improve, feel more satisfied, to be better musician or try new things, you should.

@@michellemonet4358 I really think you SHOULD HOULD SHOULD SHOULD SHOULD..🤣🤣 just kidding. Maybe this video doesn’t resonate with you but to alot of us yes. Piano is about having fun. So if you are having fun with what you know and that is your target then you don’t SHOULD. I’m in the music production so I’m practicing all this while im having fun. So there is not wrong just right.
