as someone who’s self-taught and always using the wrong fingers when playing, it can be difficult to switch hands and it makes it more complicated when playing. I’ve decided to finally learn about this and it’s helping a lot!

Do you think that practicing using flowkey app fingering position is good ? It shows you already the finger position so you don’t need to do the extra work of figuring out which finger to use

As a former broadcaster, I can see that you also have a gift for talking about things that you love. You provide a great deal of context and detail to meet your goal of communicating these ideas, and for a beginner level player like myself, that detail is very important.

I just got my keyboard as a Christmas present early (my wife is traveling home cause I'm watching the dogs while we're overseas), but my knowledge as bare minimum as possible. I look forward to learning from your videos. My biggest question right now is how to know where most instructors like yourself are actually demonstrating from on the keyboard? Are you centered? More rightward? I don't even know the keys so I'm not kidding when I said I'm bare minimum.

I just came across your channel. I'll look into more of your videos. Regarding fingering, I hate learning a new piece because I absolutely can't stand figuring out the fingering. I always tried to go over or under so as not to make jumps, but I see now that sometimes you just have to. You're so right about using the same fingering each time. A long time ago, my teacher told me that, too.

Thank you!!! I was so stressed out. I just started playing. I started with Taylor Swift's Enchanted. I love the song and decided I was going to learn how to play it. I have zero experience. I just dove right in. I did what felt natural but then I panicked. I started a training course and they said put your fingers on middle. When I tried to play from that position, I would play most of the notes with my pinky😂😂😂. No dice.

Possibly stupid beginner question - all of this focuses on one hand. Is the general rule that the left hand covers the left-hand side and the right covers the right? At which point do you switch hands when playing from left to right or vice versa? Maybe there's no right or wrong answer!

@PianoFromScratch3 жыл бұрын
No it depends on what you're playing, sometimes there's only one way that could possibly work but often there's different things that would work. If you're learning scales and standard exercises like that, it's best to stick to the standard fingers though

@@PianoFromScratch no prob yes it's pretty advanced. your fingers move slightly different because of experience I do get it.. I'm a Spanish flamenco guitarist. 👍
