The more I watch these videos the more I become convinced that music has no rules. It is just the art of making beautiful sounds by talented people . I must add also I find PianoPig is one of the best piano sites on the internet.

Great video! I actually use that left hand grip a lot already from your Kenny Barron voicing video which also has the same type of left hand I believe. Really good stuff thank you!

Look out for pp's idea on making scales "fun". Might also help in timing ear work coordination etc etc

I also play octaves in my left hand but as I think of myself as a lower, intermediate player I'd throw in a 5th to show my prowess!😁😉. As always this video will help a lot! Thanks Simon.

Hi is helpful but how can we create from chords the right left hand. I mean especially for arrangements from melodies or pieces.
@philippomotayoshakunle71064 жыл бұрын
What do you think about playing 1-5-8 in the left hand?
@philippomotayoshakunle71064 жыл бұрын
Especially for basic chords
@Piano_Pig4 жыл бұрын
A bit boring to be honest! Doubling the root note is never going to sound that great. Maybe if you're playing pop and want to beef up the sound you could get away with it, but certainly not for those nice, rich voicings used in jazz and neo-soul
@philippomotayoshakunle71064 жыл бұрын
@@Piano_Pig Hmm. Interesting. Thanks for responding. But what would be your approach to playing basic chords then, without extensions?
@joaquinvelazquez9134 жыл бұрын
When i play "piano" yes.. My left hand only plays octave bass notes D: I do almost everything with my right. Unless i'm playing some sort of jazz style in which case i play cluster or rootles chords with my left and melodies with my right. But playing only octaves with my left is what i tend to do the most so this was really helpful!
