Great lesson. I always wondered why a dotted quarter note couldn't be (or wasn't) followed by another quarter note. Instead it is followed by an eighth note because we are skipping the beat (half-beat?) in-between? So in 3/4 time it goes 1-skip- and 3 instead of 1-2-3 when the first quarter note is dotted (followed by an eighth note and then a quarter note). Your filling in all the eighth beats helps to make this clear. I will still need to practice these some more and change my way of counting. Thanks.

Are the left hand fingers supposed to start on finger 3?? 10:27 it’s not the same as the last exercise.

Yes. Follow the fingering that's written in the sheet music.

Could I please ask what the difference is between the dotted half note which has 3 beats and the quarter note with a dot?

The dot adds half of the note's value to itself. When you add a dot to a half note, it adds 1 beat (half of 2) to itself for a total of 3 beats. When you add a dot to a quarter note, it adds 1/2 beat (half of 1) to itself for a total of 1 1/2 beats. Hope that helps!
