I am glad i am not the only one struggling with this You don't wanna know how many times i had to explain this to people (who don't have any instrumental experience)

Thanks for the Video clip! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you thought about - Chiveard Awesome Speaker Framework (google it)? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to master the piano minus the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my BF at very last got cool success with it.

I hadn’t seen this yet..I had been teaching myself scales and chords off KZbin tutorials a while now but never played a full song before but just recently I got determined to play a full Bruno Mars song and I naturally was able to sing and play the whole song after 3 days..even including a lot of Bruno’s fancy rocking piano cadence! I am actually very impressed with myself now 😆 I always believed I could one day do this but got sad about never having followed thru enough to actually sing and play a full song beautifully but now I’m amazed what humans can do when we kick fear in the ass an get determined. Believe in yourself and never quit. Take needed breaks an do rest to integrate new info but NEVER EVER quit Thank you beautiful sweet piano lady 🙂

What a great teacher you are. Now for the next level: try counting/singing in '5' over the 4/4 piano pulse [ using a metronome ] with a supported intake of breath on the 1 and 4 or 2 and 5. It will keep your system oxygenated and your muscles light and increasingly balanced using minimum of effort. And importantly... not locked in to a regular over forced rigid groove. This applied, over time , if you play with the system, will allow you to freely optimize the juggling of the two skills. Btw, don't move anything below the bench; just the smallest pedal if needed.

Many, many thanks! I've struggled to be able to pitch my voice at the right volume so I can hear it over the piano. I tend to over-sing just to hear myself. Your technique to speak or hum first gives the voice the correct setting/compression/volume.

Mad respect to guys like Elton John. You don't realize how crazy hard it is to play piano and sing at the same time without the timings getting mixed up until you actually try. Each hand and your voice are on their own time, doing their own notes, and then you need to remember lyrics on top of that.

Excellent tips! Since I play original material, when I am finished writing a new song, it takes me a few weeks to get it performance-ready. An inevitable part of that process happens when I am trying to sing against my chords, but I can't do it yet. How do you break through that? The answer for me is to keep trying. I keep going into the part or parts of that song, and I try to not mess up. If I do, I restart that section over and over until I can do it. The first practice on a new song usuaaly requires about 30 minutes on that, and every day that time shrinks down as I get better, until I can play the whole song without error.
