Delighted to see flamenco take advantage of conventional music notation, instead of the limitations imposed by tabs. The lesson is excellent and would be even better if it included mention of the all important accents.

Great tutorial and amazing scales! I love the sound of your guitar. May I ask what wood is it made of?
@SpanishGuitarSchool2 жыл бұрын
It is a (stocks long gone) - South American Cyprus wood...
@TheBinaryWolf2 жыл бұрын
I remember when luthiers started using cyprus in Spain, back in the early 70s. Cyprus tapas rendered a brighter sound, sacrificing the all important bass (only fine instruments offer the 63 Hz punch). After a few years, we noticed that the best guitarreros, like Reyes, Gerundino and Arcangel Fernandez cooled off cyprus as it has a tendency to suffer a myriad of fine cracks. The wood does not age well. The German pina bete silver spruce remained the choice by Hauser and Fleta also. But played through a good condenser microphone, much of an instrument's deficits can be compensated. The only way to determine the sound is to hear how it projects in a concert hall. And a fine instrument never sounds dull, even with worn out strings.

Thanks for this nice tutorial. I got a question: since the natural bending direction of the fingers is like when you play ascending scales or notes upward, it makes it a bit easier to get more speed. But the way down to play descending is more challenging. What do you suggest in order to break such a barrier?
@SpanishGuitarSchool6 жыл бұрын
Down is faster, i don't quite understand you, the fingers are already pre-positioned, when you go down...?!?
@imanabdollahzadeh43756 жыл бұрын
@@SpanishGuitarSchool But in my case playing from the first string towards the sixth happens to be faster since the natural bending keeps it well in shape and the other way around while doing up-down. However, in general, what makes a player to break the berrier of getting to higher speeds while keeping the accuracy and precision? Thanks.

Hi! Self-learner here... I have a technical question I hope you will be kind enough to answer. Lets say you are playing a fast scale melody in the first position on the guitar neck ala Panaderos. Loosely speaking, each string will have approx. 2 notes which will need to be fretted and one open string. I find that the when I have to play the open string, the guitar neck flies out of the hand, because there is no fretting pressure, countering the force from the right arm. What I try to do is to use 'left hand finger preparation' as much as possible (even if that anticipated note is only in the next bar) so that there is always a fretting pressure on the fret-board, but i find that this can hinder left hand mobility and generally looks awkward if overdone.. I may be mistaken (please correct me if I am), but it seems in Panaderos , Paco is NOT using the strict classical left hand posture, but rather what appears to be a blues guitar posture, where part of the left hand is glued to the bottom of the guitar neck (around the Index metacarpal area), which I presume is to provide stability for playing open strings... Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you.

- this shows YOU ARE NOT SITTING CORRECTLY, neither holding the guitar the way you should: "...I find that the when I have to play the open string, the guitar neck flies out of the hand..." - DONT DO THAT...!!!!! Learn to get all information on "where the strings are" from your left thumb, that is behind the neck... And pivot ONLY on its axis leaning heavily on it from behind...! - The Bakers Flamenco is A VERY SIMPLE SONG, it has ONLY THE MELODY AND THE BASS NOTES... Paco is holding his left hand just in an appropriate position to be able to catch it all, NOT GLUEING THE INDEX TO THE NECK, or anything strange goes on there...!!! (ahha, you mean gluing the index like when in blues when playing pentatonic..?) - NO...!!!!! NOTHING SIMILAR...!!! ... especially since you need a lot more left-hand movement for the B and C parts of the piece... - But if changing the position of holding the instrument doesn't solve your issues, I might be able to tell you more only upon seeing the video of you playing it...

If you have high action, you cannot possibly render a flamenco sound. But it is not a major operation to lower the saddle.
