I used to enjoy listening as a kid. I particularly remember the calls to James from Paul Nolan, the Leeds United supporter, who I suspect in hindsight was possibly a character invented by the station to provoke debate... Either way, it was excellent entertainment, haha

Also, James uses the phrase "sad donkey" in this clip, but I seem to remember that his usual phrase in full was "sad, old donkey" :-D

@Craig Salt Haha :-) It was probably a couple of years later than you when I first started listening. Yep, I definitely remember his "kiss my whip" saying, haha. He probably combined catchphrases on occasion to say "oh, kiss my whip, you sad, old donkey!"

I went to a listener's meet up/piss up organised by James (I think in Salford?) and Paul was there. He had the right face to match the voice. Lovely old Sam the Communist was there too.
