Signal strength in dBm not percent (dBm is strength relative to 1mW) . Every 3dB is twice the received signal strength. I used a home made wi-fi antenna years ago before it was common to have your connection password protected (around 2004). I got free internet for over a year from a factory across the street (about 30m distance), and played games with my neighbours PC's - dropping (non malicious - but humorous) files into the windows shared folders. I used a bow-tie style antenna, and had a good connection over the relatively short distance.

Slight mistake. I called my antenna a bow-tie (because of it's shape), it's properly called a bi-quad. Like shown here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3yZpGZpi7-eiZo Link for the dimensions is in the video description.

Does Alfa make a nice 1000 mW 11ac adapter with monitor mode? Injection? I've got a large parabolic 2.4 GHz dish antenna similar to that Alfa one and also a nice handheld forked Yagi that would probably look k-rad on a rifle stock as a futuristic weapon of sorts (of course the back lobe radiation probably wouldn't be very healthy to have your head around for long at elevated transmit power levels 😵).

I bought awus 1900. It's good but not best. I simply turn each antenna to same direction for wps attacks. Sometimes I put my laptop and awus1900 and go for a long to capture pmkids (it works good). But it can't connect the network 2 buildings away. I tried to power up then put 15dbi antenna but looks like this antenna was shit. Alfa 5dbi antennas are better than this 15dbi antenna. For small stuff you can work with awus1900, sitting on coffee after quarantine for example. You can add 9-15dbi antenna to it.

You said that your adapter needs to be compatible with Kali Linux. I understand that you're using Kali, but you really just need your wireless card to be airmon-ng compatible. Since airmon-ng can be installed on other distros, this would technically work with any Linux distro, provided you have the drivers. This includes Ubuntu, Kali, Mint, Arch, Manjaro, Gentoo, RHEL, whatever.

You must mean something along the lines of they not having a program in place where they have a tower where users can bounce their long-range antenna off of for internet access. The mayor is right then...he should get Satellite internet so his town/village/whatever isn't installing prohibitively expensive hardware for what may be only to give internet access to one dude in the mountains.

hi guys kinda newbish here, is it even worth it to consider 5ghz band when purchasing an antenna for very high milage wifi? im thinking of something about 8miles i know length waves are shorter hense im asking if its even worth it at this extreme distances?? also is it possible to reach a theoriticaly higher distance persay over 15miles??

You not suppose to touch parabolic dish when rotating,its may be because of it your signal strenght win is too small with it.I even have metallic cover from vcr (not true parabolic!) installed on backside of ASUS 68 wlan adapter ,its brings constant +10dbm win! With parabolic must be much higher win in signal strenght.IMHO.
