@@tolanisimpson5360 First of all. Eunseo did child Pooorniitography, on garam's best friend *literally when grama was 12 and her friend probably too* eunseo posted it online on a hacked account and got it leaked, Garam found out about it, and confronted her verbally along with others students, it wasn't until two guys put them apart. Eunseo got a 8 or 9 level punishment, and garam got 5 for cussing at eunseo. But enseo got hers reduced to a lower punishment by switching schools. And garam got punished by the cussign by level 5. Eunseo moving at other school wasn't garam's fault, neither it was her getting bullied for posting a picture of another minor in only underwear. Eunseo wanted to ruin her career because garam let her get what she deserved? If garam never knew, the picture could be up and eunseo could never be confronted. She ruined her career by bullying scandals (which is like...13-6 idols a year get into the SAME scadal, and people STILL BELIEVE IT) which is like...people think they are seeking justice but grown ass adults and teens harrased her in many ways and bullied her, and eunseo did not do it privately, and she did nothing about it proves she wanted garam to get the hate. She was kicked out by company, by a bullied herself. Search yourselves than searching for one side of the story.

The treatment of Yeri has been shameful since day one. During Dumb Dumb promos there was a moment when the group was looking at livestream comments and at one point someone commented that if Yeri didn’t stop seeking attention they were going to stab her between the legs. And she and the other members definitely noticed because the mood dropped instantly. They won on a music show a day or two later and Yeri burst into tears in a way that seemed very unhappy. Another thing regarding Jonghyun’s passing … Bad Boy was released only a month later and Yeri was struggling a bit with the choreography. (So was most of the group but the hate seemed to focus on her.) I won’t try to mind read here and say it was because she was distracted by mourning. I will say pretty much everyone watching knew she had just lost a friend in a horrible way so maybe we should extend her a little grace on this comeback. But nope, people just piled on with the hate. And I know this is literally her job blah blah blah but I doubt anyone is doing their best at their job just a month after a loved one dies. And at least most of us don’t have millions of people watching.

I had a friend in high school who was a "pick-me." "Pick-mes" do not hide their intentions nor are they ashamed, you'll know one when you see one. Yeri, Yuna and Wonyoung are not pick-mes. They label female idols attention seekers because they're jealous. The thought of their fave male idols interacting with these girls bothers them because they can't catch the attention or will never meet the one(s) they view as "boyfriend/husband material". But on top of that, these female idols are beautiful. If they recognize their beauty, then surely their fave male idols/others do too and thats where the resentment comes into play.

Idols really need to become savvy of their industry in order to stand out, get recognised for their work and ultimately, succeed in their career, especially with companies acting shady and being exploitative. Yet some of them are debuting as literal 13-year olds, how can we even expect them to act like full on professionals? Of course they are going to act cute and relatable 24/7 in order to keep up a good image. And it's worrying how people hold it against them, calling them out for being "superficial" or "looking for attention"...well, duh!

and some naturally are that way like wonyoung has always been over the top cutesy even the izone members used to tease her for that. People used to try to say shi back then too people forget that she was just a kid because of her height and was very harsh on her. I had to deal with something similar as a kid were i was supposed to act more mature because i looked more mature cause of my height. But she only just turned 18 she is still a kid and will still have some of her child tendencies (which i hope she keeps since it isn't harming anyone she is very responsible otherwise so) and some things will change as she grows older.

Unrelated to k-pop, but the story around the "pick-me" term really changed the way I looked at a personal situation and I'm really thankful for that. Long story short, I (white-passing European woman) was in a relationship with a black American man. He broke up with me with some excuse like "you don't give me enough time because of your studies and I don't want to hurt you". Later, I discovered he has in fact been engaged for 3 years with a black American woman who's aware he goes to other women and manipulate them (so yeah that was wild lmao). They've been together for like 5 years and he made her go through some rough shit (left her to get engaged with another girl, then got back with her, cheating on her the whole time, etc) but she stays with him and lets him do what he wants. Even wilder, I've seen her make tweets like "when my man's side b*tches discover my existence" like she's proud of it. I couldn't comprehend how she was so ok being with such a man and hurting other women (including woc as he lied to some as well) at the same time, but now I understand it better. I'm really grateful for this insight.

Start off by saying that as a long time Shawol, December 2017 was probably the darkest time in my life. The fact that people could take a young girl crying, which I had been doing nonstop since the moment I saw the news, because someone as important me as Jonghyun was, when she actually knew him, and twist it like they did filled me with a rage I can never quell. I subsequently adore Yeri and take any attack on her personally. And every girl mislabeled a pick me will automatically have me on her side. I love this video and I love the message, but I’m going to be honest and say that I don’t expect the message to reach far enough. Maybe I’m a pessimist, but I think if you have stuck with everglow-up to this point, you are a logical human being who probably wouldn’t be throwing around the term ‘pick-me’ or you are someone who wants to comment something negative anyways and everything has gone in one ear and out the other. But I appreciate that Cheryl will always do her best to inform people with these videos, call out the hypocrisy, and subject herself to the abuse of the haters for the sake of getting the truth out. Many thanks 🙏

My fiancé loves me for being bubbly and so very much peppy-feminine, but in the world of kpop, I'm clearly looking for the attention of other men by showing affection to mine. Not all, but most of this kpop 'culture' of hating pretty women is perpetuated other women. It seems growing older is the only thing that wakes people up from their bullying nowadays. If it doesn't, I don't know what will. Teenagers suffer, it makes sense they lash out. That's why it's important to be patient as well- honey/bee analogy. Such is common that the hearts and souls of young females are plagued with self esteem issues. Be kind to those who are unkind. Not to be cliché, but... Just be genuine to yourself. Stuff like this, among other things, is why it’s so hard to talk about serious issues in the kpop community. A lot of stans use words that they don’t understand and don’t know how to have normal discourse. What’s worse is that the fanbase is mostly female, and yet so many are way too comfortable treating other women like trash when they feel threatened by an idol’s or rival group’s success, looks, etc. There’s a lot of toxicity in the community that idols are trained to accept and can’t defend themselves against, and some fans take advantage of that. These will be the same ppl cosplaying as feminists online as if they didn’t just run down a female idol for the dumbest thing. It’s so hypocritical but so common unfortunately.

I’d say pick me boys are a thing, though it might have been a trope that got misused from the original meaning, who knows, I see it a lot in TikTok povs (credible source ik lol) but apparently what I learned is that a pick me guy is a guy that will make you feel sorry for them so women can give them a chance. It’s also happened to me a couple of times. Like how pick me girls become misogynistic to gain male attention, men will turn into a white knight and say phrases like “oh, well, I bet you don’t find me attractive anyway, I guess I’ll continue to be alone”. Like it’s stuff like that. They will put down other men and tell women that they will be better. And then obv when you don’t give them a chance they lash out on you and call you terrible names. Basically the r/niceguys subreddit on Reddit. These were my observations but there could totally be another definition to depict pick me men or there might not even be one at all! Idk but that was my understanding of pick me boys

I just don't get why people can't just simply enjoy the music instead of getting upset over the way someone eats a strawberry. You are absolutely right that these people NEED to find a better use of their time. They could be spending that time volunteering in their community and helping other people, they could be learning another language, they could get a hobby, they could even just watch a TV show - but to spend time hating on people because the emojis they use is just ridiculous. Now I used to be a "kpop stan" mostly from 2016-2020 , I was an ARMY and occasionaly would listen to other groups that I liked at the time ( blackpink , everglow , exo , dreamcatcher....) anywho after 2020 I stopped listening to kpop all together until summer of 2022 where I was introduced to aespa-illusion , this song really attracted me and I found myself diving back to the world of kpop and lemme tell you IT HAS CHANGED BIG TIME , now I might be off topic here but what I'm trying to say is kpop has changed a lot since the last time I was involved with either the community or the industry , the groups and morals changed a lot , kpop used to be songs that were fun and catchy along with songs that had a deep meaning and you could spend hours listening to , also the community I'm not saying kpop fans weren't toxic back then but all I'm saying is kpop fans are now toxic more than ever ( body chaming , calling minors pick me's , hating on literally anything an idol does ) , every single kpop video's comment section is a circus at this point . I will never be involved in the kpop community again because things are just getting worse by the minute . Anywho I do hope that the kpop industry gets fixed because I seriously miss the old days , and I wish success to all groups out there , also PLEASE stop fanwars you guys are fucking stupid ; bye

toxic K-pop logic: If you're feminine or cute you're fake, if you're masculine or a tomboy you're relatable and real. Now who is the pick me here? The people doing their job or the toxic stans

The voice change thing is so true. I have what my friends call my 'customer service' voice, I've worked many service jobs. When I am talking with my friends my voice is a little deep and kind of monotone but when I am around customers I talk in a higher register and with a more bubbly tone of voice. I've never been called a pick me to my face but learning the history of the term was so fascinating. Also the chip thing, I can not open some packages of snacks, I will jokingly say 'it's child proof' and either cut it open or give it to someone around me to help me.

I don't understand how people can hate Somi, we barely get to see anything of her, she's on her own world, people just hate how happy and successful she's cos tbh I have no other explanation
