You should do audits as part of your content… love these!!!

Wow! This is the first time I've actually heard someone clearly distinguish how to determine your niche. I love your common sense approach. You don't need to turn your passion into your business. Please more videos on debunking this harmful myth that continues to be spread to this day, misleading so many people. Thank you!

Love seeing these audits! It's such good advice to separate the thing that makes you money and the thing that fuels your soul. It's so often that people turn their love for something into their business trying to follow their passion and it makes them end up hating their passion since they're now dependent on it for a living. I'm really enjoying these Sunday videos. Not only are they more behind the scenes but you get a little deeper and it shows more of you as a person. 💕

ahhh thank you so much for leaving this comment Olivia! That was exactly my goal of creating these Sunday videos! 😭🧡 happy they're coming across this way!

You have confirmed exactly what I was thinking! You don't have to live off your passions as so commonly touted in social media. We really need to have an opposing view to this pervasive narrative.

I agree that it's important to draw a line between personal passions and personal brands. I agree it's also important how content providers can position themselves as solution providers to those who visit their site to look at content that are value added to them.

I am a headshot and portrait photographer out of Las Vegas so I know how hard it can be to differentiate between being personal and using IG as a tool to attract business. The photographer industry in Las Vegas is extremely saturated so unless you also have a KZbin, you aren't going to go far. :(

I truly agree about keeping some space between what you truly love and what your business is about. @Olivia in these comments mentioned that people sometimes end up disliking something after tying it to making a living. I wanted to add that often businesses which come from a personal passion fail, because they just weren’t good ideas. People are always advising other people to turn their passion into a job or business, maybe not the best advice

Thank you! This needs to be shouted across the rooftops. So many people are being led astray with this narrative.

Hey Millie I’m normally not someone to usually leave a message or comment but this video has really helped and resonated with me and It really took auditing to another level where you kind of talked about the pillars and how the pillars can further your business and stay on track to allow you to be consistent while also presenting value to your potential clients and community so thank you so much for such great information

I was very excited to watch this audit because I feel like your opinion is so valuable, but It seemed like you were to nervous to say the hard truth. That's what we need! Don't feel bad about hurting new creators feelings. We just want to know what to do to get the job done. Thanks for your videos! They are truly helpful

I’ve come to an epiphany of compartmentalizing EVERYTHING after 3 months in a depressive episode. I love writing but was stuck for years on where to write what and why and how to prioritize what where… Finally figured out a home online for all my different writings! (Some emails, some public newsletters, private newsletters, etc.) Now, you’ve helped me figure out how to come back to IG when I do! I am a writer, but I’ll let that shine in my work. I think I’m gonna create a personal public IG account and SEO optimize my business one and just share biz-related stuff there (with a personal twist!). And any other personality things will be on stories and will be brand pillars. Yaaay!

Great video. Very thought provoking and timely. I have a product based business and ant to throw all kinds to valuable content around my products but it's been at the risk of 1) not showcasing and marketing my actual products and 2) ot having focused, cinsidtent and predictable content to attract my true tribe and help me manage how I spend my time. I will do that problem to solution exercise and cull from that list. Thanks again!

I agree with adding more photos of Kelly. I am 40 almost in the over 45 club but I wouldn’t connect with dog photos. I don’t have one so she could be losing a lot of people who aren’t 45 plus and have a dog. At least how it read to me.

I'm having a hard time with this. My 3-5 year view is to open up my own holistic wellness center or take on holistic wellness clients which ranges from body, mind and spirit. I personally do yoga, asmr, meditation, weight training, keto, tarot card readings, cooking and macro-oriented cooking. Are the niches too broad? Not sure if my tarot would turn off keto or they wouldnt get it...but for me they're all core to my planned business. too wide a net?

Millie, I am an artist and a mom of an autistic little boy. Going live is difficult cause my son is always loud. I don’t always look my best. I even am limited in reels I can do. I can’t record things with a camera pointed at my ipad. I can’t afford equipment yet and my phone stinks. I feel like more and more artists have to be cute and show themselves on social media to compete. Can I connect to my followers purely through my art and my voice? Are there other ways to connect with them and make them feel like they know me?

Hey hey! Do you have any advice for growing a channel if you do NOT need it to monetize? I'm lucky that I already have a business which is doing well financially, but I'm interested in growing my personal brand for the art & fun of it! I also think that sharing more BTS/less polished content than the business, talking about real life relatable things, will help people feel comfortable in themselves - hopefully! (Flow-on effects for the business would just be a bonus :)
