Must prefer this type of gardening (if you have the space). All the other channels have too many rules and spend hours making it prim and proper. I just walk outside throw seeds on the ground, kick dirt around and always get a harvest.

I love kohlrabi and always eat it raw - like an apple as you say. Have you considered growing the gigant variety of kohlrabi? Last year I grew this variety and the edible bulbs were from 3 to 5 lbs in size - and they didn't get 'woody' which happens when you pick kohlrabi too late. The leaves are also edible, just like cabbage. In summary the gigant variety gives you 'a lot of bang for your buck'.
@davidthegood

This is similar to how I garden. I've combined ideas from authors or books I can't remember the name of, plus these that I do: Ann Ralph, Mel Bartholomew, Geoff Lawton, Ruth Stout, Patricia Lanza, and, wait for it, Joseph Jenkins. I've always thought of my garden as a grocery store. Also, I grow tons of greens indoors in the perpetual climate-controlled spring. This and my pantry kept me well fed and out of stores for the entirety of the pandemic. I love your channel.

I still dont know what Im doing wrong. Im not far from you in location but my garden does not look like this. My collards went to seed, my cabbage is tiny, my brussel sprouts are teenie tiny, my corn is short, everglades are small still, my peppers are small, everything is small. I was able to harvest potatoes but they were getting blight so I took them out early and burned the plants. We added amendments like new soil, pond water and even miracle grow. The blueberries only have a handful and they are 3 years old. It has been a cool spring and I have shade I am fighting so that is probably it. My twin pears have spots. I dont know. So frustrated, but still trying. The garden area still brings me happiness even though its struggling.

The dang fire ants have wrecked all kinds of things, including several seedling pomegranates. Been putting out bait now that we've had a dry spell. I definitely need those everglades tomatoes in my life. Peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and pumpkins are what we have coming in at the moment. Those tomatillos look great! I found the seeds for the purple variety at Walmart in the ethnic section for fifty cents a packet. I tried some new hybrid peppers this year by bonnie, fajita and burrito peppers. So far, they are producing like crazy already but I haven't tasted them yet.

Seeing your harvest.... warms my heart. We are much farther north so have not been getting much, yet, but the everbearing strawberries are keeping us happy, the mustard greens are done, there are plenty of green onions out there. I put eggplant out just yesterday under floating row cover so the flea beetles won't kill them. Corn, beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes have a good start. I always love how early on the plants are tiny and you wait and wait and then the garden explodes! I bet you all had a very tasty dinner!

Looks great! ~ I was hoping to see what you made with it! Did you eat it all raw? Grill it? Make soup & salad? Or Mix it up to create a certain recipe or improvised a new delicacy?

3 poke berries a day will help with arthritis. Mix in water. Strain out the seeds.

The "vegetable that shall not be named" starts with a "Z". It might as well start with a "N" because it's David's Nemesis.
