The toy gun is a pop gun. The pistons fly forward pushing out the air. When new, it would have two corks on strings hanging off the end and you put the corks in the end and the gun would go "pop" when you pulled the trigger, but the corks wouldn't fly away. Of course the strings get cut and then the corks get lost and then you find out how good mud works... Ah the 60's (and earlier) when toys were toys.

I was going to put my 40 ford 1/2 ton on a ranger frame, you have changed my mind, going to keep the truck the way Henry made it. I haven't found anyone around me that will do a flathead rebuild so until I do I have a early 289 that was in a local schools shop class back in the 60's. Thank You for the inspiration to keep it old skool cool.🤘

Learn to do it yourself. Dead easy engine to learn on with no hidden tricks or traps to get you into trouble.

@@Mercmad I agree. Get you a good flathead instruction book and read it and then get started. Easier than any OHV V8. I learned on Ford flatheads helping my dad work on his race car and I was intimidated when I did my 1st OHV. : )

I was in my early twenties when I heard my first blown flat head and just marveled at the sight of it nestled in a 1940 ford pickup. The owner claimed over 300hp. I actually wonder what happened to it because this was in the early eighties at a outdoor hotrod show

I have been trying to fix up a old 54 International 1/2 ton pick up , a 50 1/2 ton pick up and a 57 4x4 Willy's Jeep station wagon most of them still have the original equipment with them ! Been thinking about selling the International ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you guys maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas . Oh there is a extra engine and a floor shift transmission that would go with the International pickup ! Needs some body work on it ! I bought in North Dakota while in the Air Force and drove it home back in 1981 !

@@jerrylong381 at least you can still work. I couldn't do it anymore after I was 46. I did injections in the spine for years, then they quit working. My doctor put me on some medication that f'd me all up. I couldn't see straight, couldn't drive and there wasn't no way in hell I could do my job. I was a crane operator and I loved that job, but there was no way I could do it safely and I was not going to try. I could have killed a lot of people if I were to try flying large, extremely heavy things way up and precisely place them. Anyway, I am truly sorry for your pain because I know it. Enough about me. Geez, this is about "Iron Trap Garage", haa, so you take care and let's continue to watch and support Matt & the guys. Bye.

Built a model of that ' 36 in the 60's when I was a kid, then found one hidden in a neighbor's back yard. I used to visit it hoping someday I could buy it. Still have a picture. You got me thinking here....how soon do they need to move it?

The 36 was beautiful. The t was cool and sounded wicked. But those front facing spindles and tie rod are scary. Bet that thing is terrifying to drive. Way cool but yikes

Impossible to have a good akerman angle like that. Spindle pivot, centerline of rear axle, and tierod pivot should all be in a line.

@@redzula Correct .I had to take a second look to see and it appears that the builder got the arms on the wrong sides. If they were swapped over and a longer tie rod installed ,it would solve that problem, if the diff is open drive that is. I bet the understeer at lower speeds is crazy.
