For what it's worth, in Windwaker, Ganondorf does actually beat the everloving hell out of Link during a cutscene with only hands and feet, involving several backhands. And yes, Link is a child there (it was the first appearance of Toon Link). But then in the final battle, when Ganondorf is dual-wielding scimitars, Link ends up stabbing him right through the face with the Master Sword, and Ganondorf dies laughing. It's pretty dark.

I love how when hop was squirtle and little z was Greninja the match went pretty evenly (because the type matchup was neutral) then hop swapped to ivysaur and almost immediately got the kill (because it’s super effective) and then little z won the match against Charizard (because it was a super effective matchup)
