Amorims type of striker has to be good at holding the ball, dribbling and beating defenders 1 v1 coz most times hes alone during attack..has to be able to hold the ball and wait fr support and pass well and has to be able to recieve the ball from the wings where theres open space to turn and run towards goal,has to be very good at ball control coz most balls come from far... Amorims team uses acounter attacking kind of approach, astriker is not need to just sit in the box and wait for crosses... Go and watch Gyokeres highlights and see all that ive explained.. And With such a profile, Rashford is a better candidate than Hojlund Hojlund still needs to improve in ball control,operating from the wings and passing accurately when his team mates come to give support,and also crossing incase he gets the ball from the wing while the midfielders have run inside the box.

When Rashford plays in the middle he plays off the defenders shoulder using his pace, this requires a pass which may get cut out. A ball to feet is the best way to keep possession which needs the striker to be comfortable playing with his back to the goal which Rashford isn't good at. Hojlund is. Not hating on Rashford, he is better playing wide using his pace.

I don't know about the perfect 11 for Man Utd. What I can tell you as a Sporting fan is what our ideal 11 looked like under Amorim. I hope it's easier for you to have a better understanding on what Amorim wants in each position. Tactic 3-4-2-1 GK (Franco Israel) - good between the posts and good with his feet. Someone that is involved a lot on the build up phase with the defenders. MIDDLE CB (Diomande) - the big boss of the defence. The biggest guy on team and the one that manages the whole defensive line. RIGHT AND LEFT CBs (Zeno Debast and Gonçalo Inácio) - quick and smart center backs that can cover a lot of space quickly defensively. Also with good technique, good passing and capable of taking the ball up the field when they find enough space to do so. WBs (Quenda and Nuno Santos)- On defense they play a line of 5 and on offense they will be veeeeery wide. On the side line wide. Probably the fittest players on the team as they run up and down the field all the time. Solid enough on defense but they have an offensive mindset. They will overlap most of the time on offense so they will need to know how to cross well, but also won't be shy if the center area is open for them to explore and to shoot if the defense allows. CMs (Hjulmand and Bragança) - In the middle we have two very different midfielders. One to destroy the other team's offense, and one to build our offence. Hjulmand will destroy everything that comes his way and Brangaça will always be a step ahead of the opponents and will know what to do with the ball even before it arrives at his feet. He will also help massively defensively as more often than not Hjulmand comes up to do high press and Bragança as to cover for him. High press, high tempo type players offensively and defensively. Bragança will show up a lot on the box when the wingers and wingbacks are looking for a low cross to no ones land in front of goal. WINGERS (Pote and Trincão) - On the wings we have two very creative players that will not be shy to take a shot on goal. They are amazing on their feet and are the type of players that are great at dribbling defenders. They will be positioned wide on the field most of the time, but always with their eyes on goal. They play a lot with the wingbacks on their respective sides and will cover them defensively if needed too. STRIKER (Victor Gyokeres 🫱🫲) - What can I say? I guess, you know him by now and what he does. A freak of nature that will only have his eyes on the goal. Quick, very strong and someone that is capable of receiving the ball anywhere on the pitch and turn straight to goal 9 times out of 10. That's our (my) ideal 11. A little note that this high tempo play style has a toll on the players and Amorim will rotate the team pretty often, especially on defense and on the wingbacks if he feels that he has enough solutions on the bench. He doesn't like to move the pieces in the front too much if the team is delievering, as Sporting always did lately. I leave you with this. Shaw will never be Ruben's LWB... Ruben only played with Matheus Reis at Wing back because Nuno Santos (LWB) got injured and Pote (LW) also got injured so he had to put Maxi Araujo (who is the LWB replacement) forward at LW and his third option, Geny was injured as well. Ruben's real options for the LWB at Sporting were Nuno Santos, Maxi Araujo and Geny (Who's the starter at RWB), so he will most likely play with dalot/malacia/Garnacho and shaw will be an option for the LCB

Onana in Goal. Yoro, De Ligt and Martinez as starting CB's. Maguire as back up to De ligt. Dalot RWB and Malacia LWB. Mazraoui an option for RWB/RCB rotation. Shaw an option for LWB/LCB rotation. If you want more attacking inverted WB's Diallo and Garnacho. CDM's, Ugarte/Casemiro (holding) and Bruno/Mainoo (box to box). I think in this 352 system Casemiro would be okay holding as he will have the middle CB pushing forward and sitting next to him in a double pivot. CAM I'd have Diallo and Garnacho first choice (inverted CAM's) if Mazraoui/Dalot and Shaw/Malacia were overlapping WB's. However, if Diallo and Garnacho were starting as more attacking (inverted) WB's I'd start with a right footed RCAM and a left footed LCAM. In the inverted, attacking WB system RCAM options would be Garnacho, Rashford, Mount, Bruno and LCAM options, Diallo, Zirkzee, Antony, Hojlund. At Striker Utd have potentially 4 options, Hojlund, Zirkzee, Rashford and Wheatley. I think my first team selection if all were fit would be.. Onana Yoro De Ligt Martinez Mazraoui Ugarte Bruno Garnacho Hojlund Diallo Wheatley or Onana Yoro De Ligt Martinez Diallo Ugarte Mainoo Shaw Garnacho Bruno Hojlund

Rashford needs to be sold in the summer, that undoubtedly needs to be a priority - there’s plenty of money to be made with selling the likes of Rashford, Sancho & Antony etc. With Shaws injury record now, our priority signing should be the best LWB out there for Amorim, if it took selling the 3 players previously understated just to facilitate that one signing. Would be money well spent, those are deadwood players at this club.

I don;t see Shaw as the season-long wing back even if he is coming to full fitness. The physical requirements of a proper wing-back are too demanding on a player of Shaw's profile, and he'll be back on the physios bench within a month. He has a lot of potential as a Left Back in the three, and Martinez isn't exactly renowned for his long term fitness, especially after a metatarsal which is one of those injuries that is prone to recurrence, so United need to hope their injuries don't coincide too often. Bruno's creativity will become better once he is back to having 10 players around him who know each other. It's no coincidence that his prime creativity tallies with stability in the 11, with last years weekly rotational system absolutely banjaxing his ability to see a run before the player started it. No one knew what they were supposed to be doing from one match to the next.

i think Shaw should be out 100% he can only have chance as a LCB never a LWB. i would like to see harry amass because he as speed skill and an amazing attacking drive don't know why he's not in contention currently nobody talking about him!?! every united fan saw him in preseason and was in awe of him until he picked up at little knock and were very surprised not to see him start or on the bench at the start of the season everyone thought we might of loaned him. So i would like to see him start especially under Amorim's line up/formation! We need a left footer on the left side unfortunately Garnacho cant do whip a cross in with his left, i know Sporting's LWB is right footed but he can actually use his left foot really well for whipping in crosses you wont get that with Garnacho. And Rashford, that's the only position he can play under Amorim and i don't think he can even do that so i think we should try sell him end of season he no longer fits this team.

Its really a shame that you guys would pick your best 11 without Garnacho. He's scored the most goals for us this season (7) with 4 assists and yet you picked Rashford over him in your best 11. He may nit have been in his finest form so far but no one amongst them has been_ I'm sure you wouldn't drop him if he's English.

The profile of rasmus (hard working bully of a striker) is a much better fit than rashford. Rashford doesn’t fit this system in any position. He is a counter attacking, ball over the top kind of player. He isn’t a great team player. Doesn’t graft. Hasn’t demonstrated a strong footballing IQ. He has abilities but unless he changes he doesn’t fit into this side. Rashford absolutely isn’t a number 9. He will play there this weekend but will quickly fall out of favour if he doesn’t graft / get stuck in and show something…

perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I could see Antony transitioning to a LWB. His work rate for me, is really good. He presses the ball when we don’t have it and also tracks back when we’ve just lost it. And having a left footed player on the left could allow him to play some crosses into Hojlund, who I think would be a much better fit in this squad over Rashford

Hojlund is easily the best fit for the 9 role. Casemiro with Ugarte to take some pressure off Mainoo and not run him into the ground already. Rashford and Bruno behind Hojlund with Garnacho and Amad providing rotation. Garnacho is not a left wing back and cannot be relied upon to support defensively.

Gyokeres is also good and holding up the ball, very phisical holding up defenders. The previous strikee before gyokeres was not great at running in behind but was brilliant at playing with their baxk to goal, finding players, they both were very phisical, rashford will get ran over.. and if u think its just about getting in behind... Thats what highlights do to you 👍
