Picking up Arc Surfboards Mini Simmons Featuring Timmy Smith

Arc makes some sick looking boards! I’m going to agree with other comments about that mini on loan to you is probably a tad bit big. Eps foam has more float than standard poly so you can always drop the size a bit to get the same feel. I’m riding my own at 5’6x21 3/4x 2 1/2 eps/epoxy and I could still take a heap of foam out of it and it’ll still float me. Such versatile boards that can be surfed in almost any size wave as long as it isn’t pitching too hard. Keep up the good reviews mate. Yew! 🤙

Thank you dude. Well, that was actually my goal to try it in bigger size with more volume. If we had consistent waves with more power than I wouldn’t need much volume. I have 5’2” x 20 x 2.6 and it floats me well however when its pitching as you said it doesn’t do well. So having extra length and foam should help me to take off earlier. We will see how it goes😁 cheers and happy new year🥳

Those are some chunky dims for a mini simmons. You'll be catching ripples on that. You should compare with one closer to normal size for your height/weight say 5'0-5'2.

yeah, based on the dims it looks chunky but when you put it under your arms, it's very light. I didn't have major issues with duck dives. If I roughly compare it to the 5'2" Hydrodynamica, it gives more confidence to go on bigger waves and push harder through the turns. Having extra length helps to take off earlier. I want to test both of them on a less windy day. Happy holidays! Cheers :)

@@SamuT79 you should be totally fine with the 5’6”. If I end up ordering a custom from ARC, I’ll go likely with the 5’2” or 5’6 but thinner with less volume.

Hey been watching you reviews and if you had to pick one your album plasmic or mini Simmons for local rock away waves which way would you go?

That's a tough one. It will all depends on the waves that you would prefer surfing. For instance, if it's 1-3 ft waves I would go Mini Simmons for sure.. and this Arc Modern Mini Simmons pivots pretty quick with nice hold through the turns compared to my 5'2" Hydrodynamica Mini Simmons which is way more skatey but it fits in the pocket easier when it's 1ft or below LOL. For bigger swells like 3-6 ft, I would go with Album Plasmic if I wanted to get more performance with more aggressive turns and stuff like that. If there is only way to have one board then I would go with 5'6" Arc Mini Simmons to keep my wave count high and cover smaller conditions. I would probably tweak something in terms of width, may be 5'6 x 21 x 2.5. Also, 3-6ft days don't happen here often though. Hope this helps! Cheers!
