if you want long tubes the best choice is ford powertrain applications. they fit perfectly for an automatic or manual application. The owner handmakes all of the sets; yes they are more expensive but worth the extra $$ in fit and finish over crites. you will not have to take a hammer to them to "tune the fit"

I've owned a boatload of Ford's from 1965 to the late ninetys..two big block Fairlanes, one was 66 GTA & a 67, also a 63 Fairlane Sport Coupe with a 289" , a 59 Austin Healy with Ford 289 running gear....etc. My favorite was my 59 Galaxie hardtop....it was a slug with the stock 352" 3speed with O.D. I picked up a blown 427 out of a drag car for $75.00. replaced two rods and pistons at JC machine shop...stuffed in the 59 and immediately scattered the 3 speed. A trip to the local wrecking yard and for $275.00 everything from the bell housing back out of a wrecked R code

Streetmaster's a good intake to use for low profile installations like the Mustang and Cougar. Makes good HP to 54-5500 RPM. A bit less low rpm torque than a dual plane but better hp above 3500 rpm. Worked real well with low compression engines of the 70's.

Surprised you found a 410. I did a 428 FE truck build about 20 years ago and it was damn hard to find the 1U cranks. It'll be great to see this build up. I have one of those Streetmaster intakes, they work great IF you're using a Predator carb, but otherwise they aren't a very good choice. The stock 428 produces 462# of torque, you can easily get to 500~550# of torque with that motor.

From what I've read about the 410, it's tough to get much over 300 real horsepower out of them due to port and valve sizing. Maybe you can find you some decent FE heads on Fleabay or something...
@413x3984 жыл бұрын
In its two-year run, the 410 came with several different castings. Some are better than others, so looking for "decent" heads may be a waste depending on what you're starting with. All 410 heads can have CJ-size 2.09/1.66 valves installed. Factory rating for the 410 is 330 hp.

My freinds crashed my truck with a motor in the back of the truck, (we usually kept them in the back like that until the day the latch failed and dumped a V6 into someone's front yard) so we strapped it up against the cab, the Moore ended up a foot and a half into the cab with three people in the cab, if it was in the back of the 8' bed it would have broken the straps and gone all the way through the cab. So now we use 10,000 pound straps. Just something to think about.
