Tell me about your first solar setup! Do you still use it?

my first setup was and still is a 100w Renogy Suitcase type solar kit, with a 100ah AGM battery. i added on another 100w later on. to get power from it i use an 800w inverter that has 2 AC ports.

A buddy of mine was thinking of picking up a Jackery, but hasn't done so yet. His intentions are to use it in his truck when he retires and travels the US,.. mostly for a fridge. I think it's a waste,.. BUT if you're using it for more than a fridge, then I could see picking one up.

i like the portability, but for a permanent setup a diy rig might be more practical.

I have a similar setup. I have a 60watt solar panel and the most I can get is 45 watts even in the Florida sun! The portable battery generators are very handy in a pinch!

Very true. I’ve loved using them the past couple years. But I’ve always charged them up at home before heading out.

solar panels have to Directly face the sun i.e. tip them
