Pickleball is definitely changing as more younger people enter the sport. High school dancers, gymnasts, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and baseball players all bring their unique athletics to Pickleball. I played pb with an ex-ballerina, and it was amazing to watch her move on the court. So fluid and, of course, jumping with ease.

Wow! That Asian lady in whites play is a work of art! As a table tennis player I can assure you shes not only has that background but most likely on the elite level. What a level of difficulty some of those shots were. Her balance is incredible.

These players are incredibly fast flexible. I wish I was young enough just to have maybe half of the ability they have. What makes pickleball great is that even seniors can play and that we all can enjoy playing while do some exercise. 😁

I almost think that both players on the closer side played table tennis in the past. The lefties 3rd shot drive is very similar to a top spin loop in table tennis in the motion. You just can't catch that kind of spin on camera but we all know it's there and that adds to difficulty in the return as well. Great match to watch. Thank you for the content!

Rory, you're losing a bit of your "cold blooded edge", I'm two minutes in and you haven't critiqued the lack of hitting down enough on the ball during the fire fights, they are missing numerous opportunities to end the point! Great players but I expect much better in this area at the pro level. Thanks for featuring a video from my country! As a shorter player (5'8") I often use that lack of stature to my advantage to get low and attack (easier to hit scorpions when your short) 🦂😅

Astute observation, fully agree. She is often putting herself in too defensive of a position with that shot selection, if she lets some of those bounce she can buy herself a little more time (often required in some points) as well as passing up a few opportunities to hit more aggressive dinks or even execute a speed up if the bounce is high enough to her liking. She really does limit her options quit often with that shot (though it's pretty cool she can do that without pulling a groin).

I've noticed that women from this area at this level all favor pure power paddles. And they send balls over too high ALL THE TIME. All-court paddles would allow them to reset the ball into the kitchen, instead of put-away height. The strategy at this level has reverted to drive, drive drive your way through the transition zone. Women feel they just need more power to be successful, and stop trying developing their resetting and third drop skills and go whole hog for the drive.

I agree and believe each lady on the Black/White team comes from table tennis. White top's flexibility and movement is truly notable. And, Rory, I don't think you noticed how astoundingly good the lady on the far side (pink leggings) was at defense. She is very good! The lady on the far side (grey shirt) has a technique issue of letting the ball drop too low on her forehands. I *think* she thinks that allows her to impart more topspin on the ball. But against the very quick Black/White team her FHs were not that effective. Each team was getting to the NVZ with dispatch; good job pointing that out, Rory. You could use this video to demonstrate resets to nearly anyone who wants to see it in real life. Excellent!
