In this video a game in which one team is almost perfect at playing small ball . I absolutely loved watching them play, their calmness on the court after getting behind in the game and their complete domination in the second half of the game Check it out.

Great point. A lot of players would have tried to battle it out with the power players. Even though getting behind early, they didn't panic, stayed with their game and dominated the second half of the game.

Interesting matchup. Orange Shirt's net play is surprisingly good -- considering the almost Semi-Western grip he uses for everything. (That one point at 13: 50.... Orange did what he should have, by covering the open middle. The smaller White Shirt player simply hit an excellent DTL winner, exploiting Orange's move to cover middle.) Orange's play from the back court is weak. (Well, he he bangs too much, but he seems to have no tactic in mind other than to bang.) He also doesn't move/position well when he's back -- as you pointed-out, Rory. Backward Cap started slowly and played himself into this game. By the 2nd half of the game he was playing with much better touch, movement, positioning and shot selection. In my opinion, it was Backward's improved play which made the overall difference. Black Shirt should get a partner with whom his game better matches.

I find it interesting that your definition of a successful third shot drop is whether or not the ball bounces. I usually prefer if my third shot drops don’t bounce and they are putting an awkward spot. My definition of a successful third shot drop is one that allows me to close most of the distance to the kitchen. I don’t have to get it all in one shot. Probably a ball that has taken at knee level or lower in the air. Also, the net has never lost yet so better to push the ball a little high than into the net. I would personally prefer over one that bounces. I just wanted to get your opinion on that. Always enjoy your videos.
@pickleballpick-apart9787
@pickleballpick-apart9787 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your opinion. I appreciate it. I think it is optimal to get the ball to bounce so you can move all the way up to the non-valley zone. There are many times when I hit a third shot drop when the player can take it out of the air. When that happens, I stop mid court, do a split step and wait for it, then try to get it to bounce on my fifth shot. If I can't make it on the 5th, I'll try the 7th. Doing what you say is perfectly okay, just make sure you don't hit it too high. I think the key is knowing how effective your third shot is once it comes off your paddle. Thanks for watching.

I agree that balls taken in the air knee level or lower are the hardest to put touch on. If I can't at least put a rolling shot to keep the opponent back I will try to let it bounce but the best ones have just that little pace to make the decision tough .I play with a guy that just constantly attacks the opponent to his right by hitting it to the back hand side within a foot of the line. The opponent either has to let it bounce while backing up and hitting an awkward backhand or take it out of the air with a backhand at shin level which is just a tough shot to hit with touch. it sure sets up a lot of kill shots.

One thing the team in white could do better is stop dropping to the opponents' forehands. Dropping to backhand is generally preferable especially when the banger has a strong forehand and mediocre backhand.

I mostly video myself drilling with my pickleball machine. I will get to it soon. However, I will be out a month. Minor surgery. A new indoor complex is opening in my hometown. I will be playing almost exclusively there. The issue is, most players I play with don't want to be on youtube.

It's interesting that you always have an excuse when people ask you if you have any videos of yourself playing the game. You seem to be very considerate about people not wanting to be on youtube. Only if you were even half considerate about personal attacks on the players, what they wear, your videos would have had some credibility.

Need more roasting!!! all those drop serves lol. But I’ll say this to people: yeah, you look real silly, but rule #1 put the ball in play every time. Glasses on white team: when he stopped doing the huge looping stroke, he made his shots! Backwards hat: actually had good touch he could replicate…instead of hitting 2 soft shots and then missing his put away quite a few times, continue playing soft! Clearly, the other team would shoot themselves in the foot and usually hit it out or end up making the error….

There's an argument to be made for a 3rd shot drive being a method to achieve an easier 5th shot. For instance, at 5:30, you claimed that his drive had "no effect". I would argue that it did, in fact, have an effect. The 4th shot landed short, so he SHOULD have had an easier time dropping the ball. Really the only problem here is that he sailed his 5th shot way too high. So... What actually caused the point to be lost was the 5th shot. Not the 4th. If players have a hard time dropping balls from the mid-court, that's another weakness that should be explored and corrected. I get it, most people should master a 3rd shot drop. But that doesn't mean other options are not available to use.
@pickleballpick-apart9787

A third shot drive is absolutely an option. But, I think players that can only hit a third shot drive and not a third shot drop are missing out. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. for your watching.

Calling a pickleball player a "Banger" is pointing out their weakness not their strength. I enjoy winning so I love playing against bangers. You will never see a high level player that consistently bangs the ball. That is not pickleball. Bangers are only successful against opponents who are afraid of the ball, don't know how to control the pace of a hard-hit ball or don't recognize when the ball is going out and get out of the way. When a player hits a ball too high and their opponent slams it back at their feet or at their non-dominant hip/shoulder or the court on their non-dominant side, that is not a banger, that's a good pickleball player. A banger, IMO, is a player who bangs an unattackable ball. Bangers win when you or your partner gives them an attackable ball. Don't do that.

It is funny that this commentary is all about fitting the narrative. "As I said even before the match started.." I mean..come on! do you really think people are so naive that they think you are watching this video for the first time when you are commenting? But anyway, who am I to judge you as "I am a mediocre 2.0 player who has lots of ego as she wants to play at a higher level (playing at higher level because of ego and not because we want to get better at the game) as pointed out by you in a "now deleted video".. I wonder why my video got deleted overnight.. did it have anything to do with my logical questions to you or because you realized you stooped down so low in your commentary?

You made some valid points. I just don't want to get an argument with you. I'll stand by what I posted in the video. It was a 4.0 level tournament. And, I think you were playing above your skill level. I pointed out when players pay good money to play against equal competition, it's too bad when they have to face players who are playing up because they think they are better than they are. That's it very plain and simple.

Surely some valid points in the video but most of it just seems to be bashing more than the feedback. Your points will hold more value if we've better knowledge of your pickleball acumen. Your current 3.5 GPN (self rated) & no DUPR doesn't say much about your pickleball expertise. I saw in bunch of comments that you like to record your game & analyze it, why not put that on your channel as well to bring more credibility. Its not a good thing to make such comments about players by looking at just one game. Nadal bagelled (6-0) Federer in the French Open final if you would be looking at just that one game you would be like Federer is the worse player and why is he even playing the Pro league. But everyone knows that would be the worse assessment ever. I'm hoping your acumen of youtube T&C is better than that of pickleball because if someone wants they can literally have a field day with your channel. I'm saying that because you actually have some decent content on this channel and it will be a shame to lose it all just because of some unnecessary videos like this and a few more on your channel.
