It’s amazing how year after year PB gets closer and closer to tennis. This video. It’s instructors explaining tennis techniques to PB players who haven’t ever played tennis

Secret to big serve is paddle speed. Light grip pressure, and having an efficient kinetic chain is key
@pickleballplaybook7 күн бұрын
Nice! I totally agree! Seems like you got it all figured out too.
@dbweb.creative13 күн бұрын
the "weight" transfer should only be looked at as a speed stack. Weight has low energy yield in this context, the ball can only take little of your body's energy. The kinetic chain main idea is to provide speed on top of another speed, like a man who runs on a moving train - his speed will be train + running. Similarly, the more links you have in a kinetic chain - higher the speed stack. Also wrist can do wonders, but it would require a strong wrist that can withstand the speed of the whole chain as the final point of contact.

Been studying Fed and his serve lately. Seems to kind of scoop the ball on the outside.

I always back up a few feet from the baseline before my serve. Because after my serves (momentum) I automatically land behind the baseline instead of landing in the court continuously. Avoid backing up behind the baseline each time in a hurry
@pickleballplaybook7 күн бұрын
Oh interesting. Why is that?

Great video, I never noticed James had a continental grip! However, the exposure settings on your camera seem set a bit too high. Things are looking overly bright & kinda washed out. Hard to view it in a dark room!

Yeah you're right, I'm still figuring out camera settings! Thanks for the feedback!

well.. the follow-through is essential, without it you will stop your own motion short of delivering the speed to the ball. What I mean is - all biological movement goes through acceleration and deceleration. So if you want to stop soon as you hit the ball - you will actually start slowing down milliseconds before that point. You don't know how much of the speed actually will be on ball contact. This also ties into consistency. Without follow-through sometimes you deliver 60%, another time 80%, and other 40% of what you were carrying in a swing, but stopped short. So nothing will be of your swing, regardless of how potent the whole kinetic chain is, if the follow-through is not there.
@pickleballplaybook7 күн бұрын
The follow through is a by product of good mechanics! completely agree.

Isn’t it a foot fault landing into the court off the serve ?
@vanillaghetto12 күн бұрын
No. Just need one foot behind line and on the ground upon point of ball contact. Other foot can be in the air, then step in-bounds after contact.
@pickleballplaybook7 күн бұрын
No. One foot must be behind the line, but after contact youre completely fine.

At 15:45 I disagree, too many things going on. Simply cock the wrist back and then make ur forward push.. Raising the paddle head UP only to LOWER it is counter productive...
@pickleballplaybook7 күн бұрын
Whether you disagree on the mechanics or not has nothing to do with too many things going on. Once you understand all the "too many things going on" you no longer will have to focus on them and can just focus on the simply hitting the ball. Mechanics first.
