I didn't add any weight to mine, because it was already at the upper limit of what I prefer for swing weight. Aizec added about 6 grams on each side at the throat of the paddle for his though.
@slothlife3806 ай бұрын
I too am coming from the CRBN 3x (14mm) and it's weighted at 4 and 8. The weight of the Shogun feels great out of the box for me, so I haven't messed around with weighting it. I accidentally left my Shogun at home because I was cleaning the grip (which is a dirt magnet) and had to play with my 3x for a day, and I'm finding that I don't like it anymore. I lovwd that paddle, and never thought I'd try something I liked more, but the Shogun was the one. It's got a lot more feel at the kitchen line and my serves and drives are stronger, which sounds odd. You wouldn't think you could get improvement in opposite spectrums.

Hey, what is a good carbon fiber paddle to get for my first high end paddle? I’m thinking about getting the Filth, but I am not sure yet. Any recs would be appreciated!
@scottconway13616 ай бұрын
If you want a control paddle, try the BNB Loco. I’m playing with the Filth (just what I tried first) but reasons for my decision was not necessarily power - it had great spin rating/reviews, longer handle and extended paddle (I’m still into tennis and like the length of handle/paddle, just “feels good” in my hand) and lastly you mentioned PRICE. At $165 and with 15% discount codes all over the place - it made it a much easier decision. I have two other paddles that cost more than the Filth, but I hit with those maybe 1x a week just for something different. Their return policy and warranty is great, certainly worth considering on the purchase. I had a technical question, called the number, ended up being answered by the owner’s son (he didn’t tell me that, found out later watching a YT video of the owner and he said his son’s name). I spent 30 years in commercial/community banking, lending money to small/mid-size companies - BNB says they have around 20 employees, veteran owned, can talk with real people, etc. Finally, their marketing is crazy good - they seem to take pickleball seriously, but not themselves. Great paddles, great price and FUN company.

With all respect, not talking about the "ballance" of the paddle is a bad sign. I have bought many paddles because of the reviews.. Many of them turned out to be head heavy! And to me (coming to the game from tennis and the pro Staff), this is a no go! Every serious tennis racket reviewer will talk about the ballance. I hope pickleball reviewers will catch on...
@PickleballStudio6 ай бұрын
Reviewers have started charting out balance (I measure it whenever I get a paddle). However, I haven't found a clear correlation yet in PB about which range feels head light, head heavy, and balanced. If I can't articulate it well, I don't want to say a number with no meaning attached to it.

This from the guy who says Kevlar is a "gimmick" 🧐
@PickleballStudio6 ай бұрын
No, I said it was being used as a buzzword. I further clarified in that review that the claims they were making were not proven yet. Such as longer lasting spin or better spin and a stronger surface material. So far, that has been accurate. It doesn't seem to last any longer than raw carbon fiber, and spin in some cases is higher, but still hasn't exceeded the highest RCF spin rate. The difference in terms of spin rate between kevlar and RCF likely comes down to how gritty it came from the factory. The consistency rate of peel ply surfaces is terrible in this industry. What I will say I was wrong about though, is that kevlar has clearly proven to be something the market likes and plays very solid.
