I dont think most people really understand how completely devastating a kick to the head can be it’s one of the scariest things that can happen to a person. Even in a lot of amateur mma fights kicks to the head are prohibited and this is while you are trying to knock the other person out with your hands and elbows head kicks are just that dangerous. So yea its entirely unsurprising that the dude was out cold for 6 hours straight a head kick like that could 100% give someone a brain bleed and kill them

That's great to read. There's so much concern expressed in some of the reviews about how hard it is to control. But maybe I shouldn't be so afraid. Rated 4.1, what's lacking in my game is power. I'm more confident in my control game than my power game with most paddles. So, I think I'm going to go for it and give this Ripple a shot.

I agree with those that like the Asics Gel Res 9’s. They have the best cushioning/shock absorbing features, excellent stability, and durability. I also wear the Head Revolt 4.0’s and I like them a lot - very comfortable, and bit lighter and more nimble to move in than the Gel Res 9’s. The Gel Res 9’s have more shock absorption, stability, durable sole, and have a more quality overall build. The trade off - Head Revolt 4.0’s were half the price of the Gel Res 9’s, but I haven’t checked prices in several months.

For me, the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tours best the Gel Res 9s in max cushioning. The ankle lock is also better for me. I like the look of the Asics more.

Favorite Thanksgiving food is a roasted prime rib. For desert I make Dark Chocolate Lava Cakes with vanilla bean gelato on the side. The new Ripple sounds delaminated for sure. Its a farce if that thing gets approved but the USAPA and the UPAA have already sh!t the bed on paddle certification and testing. Definately need more widebody/standard paddles. Love the hand speed and stability they provide! IMO a paddle needs to be just good enough to get you to the kitchen. Then it needs to be lightening fast, whippy for flicks, and stable for counters/resets to dominate in hands battles. Oh, and i made it to the kitchen.

Most of the time nothing comes of these types of incidents, especially if no one was seriously hurt, but there is a myth that a person needs to "press charges" for charges to be filed. The publicity this gets probably doesn't help the kicker and discretion of the presecutor determines if charges are filed.

The Beta Ripple R1 and R2 paddles passed the amateur "ref inspection" at APP Nationals and players used them. The R1 Beta did not pass pro testing. Testing team sited visible and tactile ridges. They didn't bother running the paddle through their testing equipment. I can hit as hard with a Paddletek ESQ-C as an R1 Beta, both have power, but not like Mod 15-A, S3s or Gearbox PPE. Pop off of both is powerful. I can hit harder with a Paddletek TKO-CX than an R1 Beta. I hit the R1 Beta and R1 production model side by side. Other than the sound, I didn't notice more power. That said, the R2 production model was way more powerful than the R1 production model and R1 Beta. Construction is different for sure given the sound difference. Hope that makes sense.
@MonohanMedia8 күн бұрын
Maybe you can advise me. I am deciding between the Ripple R2 and the ESQ-C. My current main paddle is the Engage Pursuit Pro1 6.0. I think the ESQ is the most natural progression from that. That said, my previous paddle was the Gearbox PPE and I had a lot of success with that, and that's simliar to the R2. The main thing I need is power - my control game is more dialed in. Level: 4.2
@Coach_A228 күн бұрын
@@MonohanMedia I enjoy the Engage Pursuit Pro1 6.0 quite a bit too and find myself using it more for dubs. Lacks plow on groundies and pop, but does well all around, particularly touch and drops. Since you are using that now, but have used the PPE, I doubt you'd have a problem with either the ESQ-C or the R2. The ESQ-C is a great paddle, but if it's power you want, and a larger sweet spot, then the R2 is a better option. You will just have to reign in the power a bit and adjust your mechanics to hit similar shots. I use the Pro1 6.0 and ESQ-C interchangeably, no adjustment. I just love the feel of hitting a solid ball with Pro1 6.0. It feels chunky. Obviously, if you can, demo the paddles. From the sound of it, you won't have a problem with whatever you choose. So many paddles, so little money!!!
@MonohanMedia8 күн бұрын
@@Coach_A22 Thank you so much for your reply. What you say mirrors my thinking. Since my main complaint about the Pro1 has been its smallish sweet spot (understandable for a Gen 1 paddle, even with lead tape) I was hoping that the ESQ-C, which has a much higher twist weight, would be a little more forgiving. Is that your experience?
@MonohanMedia8 күн бұрын
@@Coach_A22 The last minute info I hear coming in about the production model of the Ripple has me concerned. It sounds like it might be too much of a bucking bronco. Also, it's going to be controversial no matter what. I just might get tired about all the comments I get about it. That's what happened when I had the Gearbox. People were often ragging on it - "that's a cheater's paddle" - just as people are ragging on the TA-15 these days. The Ripple is next.
@Coach_A228 күн бұрын
@@MonohanMedia I think you will enjoy the ESQ-C. I actually use it for dubs and singles. Never can go wrong with a larger sweet spot and higher twist weight. I'm amazed at how hard it hits with such a low swing weight. So, yes, that is my experience. You might have to get used to the shorter paddle, as some people moving from other paddles have mentioned to me, but I didn't have any issues.
