Actually for the breathing in space stuff they subtly drop the reasons why. He asks why they can breath in space, then Carl interrupts. After he's done you hear Sheen ask "Why don't we need oxygen tanks then?". This would mean that they do have oxygen with them but it's a limited supply, if Jimmy had said they don't need oxygen for whatever reason, or that Space has oxygen then Sheen wouldn't have asked why they don't need oxygen tanks. Which only comes down to it being that Jimmy's ships bring oxygen through perhaps a subtle force field that can't be seen by the naked eye(And, to help CONFIRM this is the reason, when Jimmy's near the end of his explanation, you can see Sheen have a small look of shock, then he looks up and around as if trying to see the force field around themselves). Problem is that the air can get used up, hence why Sheen asked they don't need oxygen tanks. Jimmy's answer to that would then be as simple as he found a new way to renew air. This would also explain their hair moving, as it's probably rapidly circulating within the forcefield. As for distance traveled, that's up in the air as it could be they're warping, going really fast at approx the speed of light but he has something keeping them stabilized, etc. I feel this is the writers' explanation on it. But they wanted to troll everyone and make Carl talk over it so that one of the biggest cartoon logics wouldn't get explained thanks to him. It helps keep it funny.
